Hey! Welcome, sailor! I used to know a guy who was on the original OKC back in WWII!

Here's a great site. The guy who runs it was been a big help (when I had questions about helping that friend of mine).

Under history, it says CG-5 was decommissioned in 1979 and was 'stricken' on 15 December 1979.

Sunk as a target in March 1999.
That seems to be the trend these days. With EPA regulations, scrapping a ship is no longer cost effective.
