He is in his 40's likes computers (games), football, and digital photography. I normally get him a voucher from GAME but would like to be a little more creative I want to spend up to £30.00 max.

Give him a tenner, that will be a suprise if you normally spend £30 and then take the £20 go down the pub and forget its his birthday

A yearly subscription for a technical magazine on either computers, or digital cameras or one with lots of gadget type things in it. That way he can keep himself up-to-date with the latest gossips in the field of computing etc.

why not buy a photo album and put old photos of him through out the years in it and write little captions underneath it will mean a lot to him as you've taken your time to decide which photos go in and what you wrote underneath it and it's something he can keep for years. it's on the lines of this is your life but with photos in it. i did one for my granny at Christmas about 12yrs ago and she loved and i really enjoyed doing it. it was a laugh looking at all the old pictures

I don't know, have you considered some good photo editing software like photoshop. that way he can do just about anything he can imagine. a memory card is another good idea and so is the one for the magazine subscription.

why don't you purchase a photo editing software? I'm into photography and I was very happy when I got this sort of software. Try specialized stores and maybe you can even find some sort of special offer.
