i have two serious medical conditions, hypoglycemia, and hypertension, plus an allergy to penicillin(sp?). i heard about the medical chip implant, and i'm interested in it. should i get it now, or wait for more hospitals to be outfitted w/scanners? i don't currently have a medi alert braclet.

people who are diabetic are good candidates to get those, as diabetics who get too hypoglycemic can slip into a diabetic coma. If you know what's wrong with these people right away, after administration of sugar, they can be fixed and fine in literally 2 to 3 minutes, saving precious time. I'd reccomend it for diabetics.

Edit: Also--do you have a vial of life in your home? These are good to keep in your house as well.
Also to clarify--don't get rid of the bracelet, as people have pointed out that it'll be a few years before the chip is widely used. But I do believe it's a good investment for the future

OK not everyone will have the med chip scanner anytime soon. God forbid you are in a car accident or something and unconscious and can not tell them your issues because if they do not figure it all out one dose of penicillin and you die. Since you go high and low you are more likely to be unconscious. My son is a diabetic and allergic to penicillin he has worn a bracelet or necklace since he was 8 months old. The emergency people look on your neck and wrist for medic alert they will not be looking for that micro chip anytime soon. Get the medic alert they offer cheap ones in the pharmacy or order one I got the pamphlet at Wal Mart cost $35 and they have his stuff engraved on it and when the med calls and gives his ID number they get all the doctors and phone numbers.
