Just count yourself lucky that they haven't actually tried to paste the whole Bible in.
It's only a matter of time before Mr Mister or one of his ilk do so...
As to my opinion....
I scroll, and I scroll, and I scroll further until I find a reasoned response (from anyone really, but an actual response).

Mostly because it's the way they were raised.
In humanity we echo back education we've learned - specifically, the method from which we were taught is the way we know, and unfortunately, most of the time the only way we know.
So, when a person is first born they are neutral - but as the child grows he begins to ask questions. For example, he asks his father about sex. The father, being trained by his father, etc; automatically goes and finds the scriptured response on the Bible. The child learned two things: the message of the bible, along with the reference material.
This goes on for upteen years.
Finally, when he is ready to face the world; and is confronted with a question he knows he does not have to think of an answer. He merely pulls up the book and quotes related scriptures, just as his father did, and so on. This will be a cycle that ends the day a bad parent tries to teach his son in that method, and the son rebels into either an agnostic stance if the parent was mildly bad, or atheism if the parenthood was terrible.
In any case, it's one of the main opinions as to why Christianity is Blind and Stupid. The method of teaching Christianity is by repetition - monkey see monkey do - and generations of humanity have grown through in that exact same manner. Monkey see, Monkey do. No thought or reason.
It's funny to see Atheists trying to fight Christians in this method - they're both giants that have been around for centuries; and they still think head on arguments are the best way to make the other side understand.

Well, responding to some other posts first, imitative behavior is a way that people in general (not just religious people) typically learn, and poor logic skills also run across all demographics, if you ignore the content of what is being believed and simply look at how the beliefs are arrived at in the first place.
"Authority-based" learning, where there's basically a one-way process (teacher-model -> student), might be useful to pass information [it's certainly easier], but only if (1) the authority is trustworthy and (2) people are concerned more about the information learned rather than the process by which it can be learned and applied.
Face it, much of society is based on model-based learning; and it's not necessarily a bad thing for tasks that need to be learned and practiced perfectly -- whether it's someone doing data entry (just copy what's in front of you) or processing numbers, etc.
That being said, I don't think spirituality is a "cut and paste" method ... because even if you happen to believe "the right thing," it would still be completely impersonal and not a belief that someone arrived at and earned. It never changes them in the core of their being, it's just imposed from outside.
And if that's all spirituality is, I don't even see the point of it (aside from being a social control of sorts).
Usually people who are just pasting in large tracts of text aren't only not thinking, but they're not relating to the person they've giving the text to -- I don't think I've yet seen one of the those large "cut and pastes" religious text excerpts ever really address the question being asked.
At least we know people are technologically advanced enough to know how to use Ctrl-C and Ctrl-P.... :)

Well sir, I like this question because it is rather difficult to answer given the fact that I don't know your previous questions. However, I will give it a whirl.
"demonstrate one of your God's finest inventions: intellect and reason"
I believe it would only be fair to iterate that I have not had the pleasure to be entertained by many here on this Yahoo channel that have an intellect to begin with. i.e. There are very few people here, for the amount of questions, that have displayed any significant amount of free thinking, abstract thinking, scientific thinking, critical thinking, or conscious thinking.
Therefore, if the participants who have been answering your questions are not a "thinking" contributor to the task at hand, then it would be also fair to deduct that there would be equally no ability or conservative perception to have a reason either.
Thus, it is possible in their frustration of not having a reason to answer your question that they (the applicant), must regress to a focus on their current intellect which it has already been established, is not available for comment.
In conclusion, cut and paste quotations are the only known current form to overcome in-cohesiveness of perfectly good brain tissue.

I have a question for you... have you read the Bible?
Did you ever notice how many times people asked Jesus and the other prophets of old, Kings, Judges, etc for their opinions and just how many times they themselves, including Jesus, quoted from the sriptures?
"Opinions" from imperfect humans are just that - imperfect and very flawed most of the time. If we think we're so smart why is the world in such bad shape?
People who give you their opinion based on a scripture is because they want to provide the best possible answer without human imperfection getting involved. And if they are quoting scriptures, for the most part, it's because they truly believe what the scripture says and it shows that they agree with it. That's all.

if it suit what you ask for it is alright but if not then i am with you but if you are asking a question in chemistry do you back it up with biology or physics NO so that is why and this is a religion and spirituality section, if they are doing it is some other section then it is wrong but it is like dont pray in a mosque. well, not all the people here want to help, just want to find something to do cos they are bored so you just have to take it like it is and find the one that helps you in your needs well Good luck next time when you ask a question that you will find someone dat understand the bible and explain it to you and i have just modify my answer and i saw that people are doing what you said thay should not do but i am can say is sorry man. hang on in there

the reason I quote the bible after I talk non secular concerns is because I view it because the perfect authority on doctrinal concerns. it truly is strictly because the scriptures are so old that they were waiting to face up to the attempt of time and allow for the vindication of the foundations contained in it. maximum of what Jesus stated were in reality quotations from the so talked about as "old testomony", so that you rightly talk about that Christians ought to enroll in the old testomony, yet to boot ought to attempt to mimic Jesus as an social gathering even as speaking about non secular count number via quoting the scriptures and warding off distributing of their personal opinion... which should be in unity with the scriptures besides, you'll anticipate.

I definitely agree with your opinion on this one! I've seen alot of idiots generate a 10 paragraph answer just to show that they could paste unrelated material from the bible. It not only shows their I.Q., but their total lack of understanding.

It is their way of backing up what they believe.
They believe the Bible.
They use the Bible to back up what they are saying.
There is a problem though, They believe the words they are cutting and pasting, you however do not.
The very fact that they are showing you parts of the Bible should show you that they believe what they are saying.
No one can convert you.
No one can make you believe.
You have to come to that yourself.
If you do not, oh well, that is the way it is.
I am not responsible to make you believe.
This is the crux of the matter, they believe that they are.

Sometimes a quote straight from the source is the best answer. Some people feel the Bible says it better than they could say it themselves. I am one of them. Cutting and pasting doesn't show lack of thought and interaction. To find just the right quote to convey your thoughts, feelings etc. you do have to think and reason.
