Post-partum depression all depends on the person, there's no set time that it lasts. Speak to your doctor or a counsellor, you might have to go on medication to help you feel better.

If you're having thoughts of doing harm to yourself or your baby, you need to pick up the phone and call for help immediately, be it to your doctor or your mum.
If what you're feeling is fear that you or your baby may die, that's a pretty normal part of parental anxiety. When baby sleeps through the night the first time, most parents first say 'hoorah!', then run to the nursery to make sure all is well. Normal.
If you're looking to avoid taking meds, you're not thinking of hurting anyone and you want to find a way to feel better, there's a few things that'll help. Find a group where parents get together with their little ones. Check out churches or call your ped's office for suggestions. Get outside in the fresh air and do some walking or other exercise. Smile on purpose. Smiling releases good hormones. Don't forget the old saying, laughter is the best medicine. Just interacting with other people, talking, is great. Head for the market or mall. Most important, be sure you're getting enough rest and are eating healthy.

I know how you feel girl....I've been there. It started with me when I was pregnant with my second child. I would drive myself crazy thinking of suddenly loosing my son. Thinking what would I do and how could I pull myself together to take care of my baby I was carring. I didn't take any meds. for this. I just embrase every moment with kids and never take for grantid there good health and looking at your kids will help you over come it. Healthy diet good exercise and rest. When you get that fear and the hart palpitations don't let it get the best of you. It can rob you of the happniess children bring to your life. When you have kids you life changes..... Feeling the way you feel to me.... is normal. I know I will never be able to bare the thought of loosing my kids. It just will make you a better mom. Hang in there girl things will get better for you. Best wishes.

The length of Post Partum depends on the individual, have you talked with your doctor about your problems? The first thing you need to do is consult a doctor in order to have PP diagnosed and then follow the doctor's instructions, whether it means taking pills or whatever.

When such negative feelings come to your mind; look at ur child. Small children have the power to change everything. Just think of his future & also how his life will be messed up without U.

You really need to speak with a Doctor because your PPD can progress into something worse.
If you are religious, you could speak with your preacher, priest, or rabbi.
But, please keep in mind that PPD is a real disease and it can progress into something worse if you are not careful.
