Have a word with your mum and get her to do what I did for my two daughters. Get a deal that allows you to make calls local and national free for up to 1hr. whatever you do promise not to call mobiles, they cost a fortune

Perhaps negotiate something - extra house chores for phone credit. I used to do that when I lived at home as a teen to get extra pocket money.
Also consider that perhaps you are frustrating your mum by relying on the phone too much, chatting away with friends blocking the line for other calls for her. Think about how much you use your phone + for what, may be it is better to use it just to organise meeting friends rather than for long drawn out chats. (We did after all survive without mobile phones not too many years ago.)
Part time work or getting a job where you can pay for what you want will give you freedom to spend the money as you wish. It will also show you money doesn't go very far...quicker to spend it than earn it. Give your mum a well deserved break + try to see it from her point of view, there must be some good reasons for this strict rule, I am sure she's not wanting to be deliberately mean

Well ... I would be upset. But being a mum myself I understand where she is coming from. No one likes paying for a bill they did not generate. I'm sure you are of an age to get a part time job or something why not get one it would give you a idea of how things work now you are growing up and also give you some independence from your mum. It would put you in a good position for the future.

I don't see why anyone would stop someone from using the landline,
but at home I'm expected to buy my own credit for my mobile, which isn't that bad really seeing as I don't use it much.

I'd feel that life was unfair, but at your age, life is unfair! When you pay the bills you can use whichever 'phone you like. Until then, stop moaning and go do some serious creeping, maybe offer to do a job which you know your mom doesn't like doing herself, or maybe just do what she has already asked of you, and you'll find that she will be more forthcoming.

i bet you've prob run up a nice BIG bill for her so thats why.
get a job get your own credit for your mobile or get a job and a mortgage and move out then you'll know what its like to b having to pay all the bills lol

Why don't you use a traditional method of meeting up with someone and talking rather than bankrupting the family with your extortionate phone bills
Alternatively pay for those bills yourself! You have to grow up sometime!!!
