Me and this girl have been best friends for ages. We have traveled the world to see eachother and always have a great time together. She has had several crushes and the occasional bf but none last. I love her more than anything in the world but she doesn't seem to notice. She says she loves me as a brother but I cant live with that. When I'm with her there is nothing more wonderful. Im tired of being the friend. I make her laugh, smile, cry etc... but she never lets me in her heart. This girl is the joy of my life but to her i am only a "friend". I've tried telling her but to no avail. Am i selfish to want more? What can i do? Am i being used? Any advice would help.

PS. I buy her stuff. We go to the movies. We do everything together. Her Parents love me. I have made every effort known to hummanity. If we were older I would ask her to marry me!!
Let me add that we r both 18. I want to be able to support her before I decide to marry her.

If she's your friend and she's a good friend to you, then no, you are not being used. She may adore you as a friend, but not a lover. Besides getting along well, spending time together, laughing, crying, telling each other your innermost thoughts, etc., and all the things that make for the best of friends, there has to be an attraction to become lovers. A 'chemistry' of sorts that has to be mutual. If it isn't there, you can't force it. And she's not feeling it for you.

If you are spending all kinds of money on this girl and feeling used because you are expecting (or hoping) for romantic involvement, think about this: YOU'RE the one with motives, not her. If anyone is being used, it's her, not you.

She loves you like a brother says it all. She just wants you a friend and the stuff you buy her. You've let yourself be used in hopes that you can buy her love. Tell her your true feelings before it eats away at you. And when you stop buying her stuff watch how fast she runs. If it does not work the way you want it to? Don't feel let down. Your still young and a you still have a long life ahead of you. Life gets better as you get older.
Good luck & stay strong
