I am 30 years old. Frequently I think about my college and childhood days that we enjoyed our life completely in and out of the home, I get a strange feeling by thinking about the impossibility or rewinding the 'life, place and all the people' to 15 years back. At such times, I get headache, feeling difficult to breath, pain in abdomen etc. How can I get rid of this problem?

You could possibly be experiencing anxiety or even panic attacks. If you want to get prescribed some anxiety meds (like Xanax or Klonopin) it could help you in the short term to go to a Psychiatrist, but in the long term, you will need to develop some non medicinal skills such as meditation, controlled breathing, exercising regularly (if you don't already) and even journaling.

But for immediate relief, it wouldn't hurt to go to a Psychiatrist, or even your PCP for that matter....

Good luck!!

Why spend the money on a shrink when a close friend can give you the shoulder need at the moment? We all go back in our head's to relive the best of times especially when we are going through a stressful time in the present. You are not alone in these thoughts and feelings. At 30..you have set goals for yourself and if you are coming up short..that can cause unhappiness, recriminations, doubt, fear. A close friend can help you sort things out and give you ideas on how to cope and move ahead.

Sounds like a simple anxiety attack. I would talk to your doctor and tell them about the way you feel. they can give you medication for it (i.e paxil). If you still have the feelings on medication there may be another problem or cause of the problem and you may need your medications piggybacked with another anti psychotic or anti depressant medication which you will need a psychiatrist to do.

Please don't feel scared when you visit a psychiatrist, they are just doctors who deal with the mental part of the brain. Nothing bad really, its simple and painless and in return you will be your normal self again.

If you have feelings of depression or suicide go to a psychiatrist immediately.

Recommend you read the book "Dianetics the Modern Science of Mental Health"
This book will fully explain why this is happening to you and also how to fix it.

Psychiatry doesn't "help" or cure anyone. They just hand out addictive drugs to suppress all feelings and emotions including the good ones.

Read that book and discover what is actually going on.
You are not nuts.

The headaches, difficulty to breath, etc. are all signs of anxiety. You are making yourself sick. If you stop obsessing about what was, and start living your life in the present, you will be rid of the problem. If you find you cannot stop thinking of the past, please do see a therapist.
You may need medication.

Time flies. As sad as it might seem. I'm 30 too now and having the same problem.
Yeah why not try a doctor.

Good luck

You would probably benefit from talking to a professional therapist, not necessarily a psychiatrist.

You might want to talk to your primary doctor as well, just to check for physical problems.

Sorry you're feeling so sad and overwhelmed. It sounds like you're going through a rough time.

sounds a bit like a panic attack

seek help from your GP and he / she will make the decision of what is wrong with you - if anything

sometimes life can become too difficult for us - so we revert back to the good times - maybe your just having difficulties and want to be in the good days!!!

I think that these problems are the result of you coming to the reality that you can't relive the joys you experienced in the past, and the present isn't so rosy. No, I don't think that you need a shrink.
