I was looking for a car and discovered the 2 door saturn ion. Its very safe got 5 star for crash rating, and 4 star side impact. But I was wondering if this is a good car for a new driver, meaning are they reliable? And how is the gas. Also would a vw golf or jetta be a better option, my friend has one and its great.

Give a teen a car and grades will go down. One year probation no friends riding around in the car at night. That is when more teens are killed in auto accidents. My dad said you can have any car "YOU" can buy. Then turned around and gave my sister two cars. Saturn, Golf, Jetta, all good choices. Drive up in a 1987 Ford Taurus and tell them here it is! Watch the embarrassed look "I cant drive that"

My friend has ion, she loves it. It looks good and I heard it's safe too. I don't about the gas, sorry.
Also I know bunch of people who owns Jetta, for some reason VW is kind of a young people's car around here. I love German cars, mostly the Benz :)

It's not a bad car when you put it down on paper, but I would be embarrassed to drive a Saturn. How old is he/she? If they're in high school, they can't complain right?
