Depending on when you underwent the surgery. If it was done <1 week ago then the pain is post operative and this is bound to sting whenever the urine passes via the surgical site this is because the urethra (the tube that channels the urine out passes somewhat through the area near the prostate) this will definately go slowly take plenty of water to dilute the urine thereby reducing hopefully the acidity of the urine making it a little more comfortable. If it is more than >1 week then chances are that there may be either a blockage to the catheter from the debris within and that might need replacement- that is removing it and putting a new one or some form of infection that might need a urinalysis. So this is what I would suggest:
Go bak to your urologist and seek for more info and help he might replace it which he should coz a catheter should not cause you any discomfort at all and he might do a urinalysis just to be sure that there is no infection.
Otherwise I wish you a speedy recovery and smile coz God loves you.

You should refer to your physician/surgeon and he will prescribe appropriate medication. All surgery is a bit painful but if you can bear it, do withou the drugs as the cloud the sensorium. Post surgery, if you are out of the hospital, you shouldn't need the catheter.

i hope your doctor gave you some pain medicines and some medicine to take to ease the pain when you urinate. If not contact him/her and get them. You can take an OTC pill to help the burning. Ask your pharmacist about it.
