I'm sure she is sick or your company would have warned you she wouldn't be there. Any of you ever feel any concern for her? She could be really ill and most of you are only thinking about the extra 4 or so hours you'll have to wait for food.
Why doesn't someone ask if 1 person from your office can make a trip to the nearest store for sandwich makings and IF the canteen lady is sick a get well soon card for her! If she or one of her children/parent isn't sick...she deserves her days off too because you don't seem concerned about her well being, why should she care about yours on her day off?
