Why is there such a strong correlation between religion, hatred and violence? And then you wonder why I find religion so distasteful.

Because its all hypocritical, they preach about peace but with the other hand kill. We're human not perfect. And because its all about power.

in case you're taking a set of people and put in circle, then in case you commence a asserting to the man next to you once you get the asserting back it should not be something you could deciper as what you all started. it really is the muse for most problems with religion. G-d has an user-friendly message. He has tried many circumstances to get this message to all and varied many ideas. With people desirous to complicate the easy, we've the mess we've. To sum up it truly is not the message even if the self-proclaim messengers that led to complications in religions. because the people are the project, only eliminate them and there'll be no complications. BTW i do not help doing away with people, considering i'm one.

Most religions (i.e. the mainstream ones) don't condone the use of violence to solve problems...it's the people who are "leaders" of the religion that incite violence to achieve various goals, and "interpret" or manipulate information to make violence seem like a viable option. Of course most often these goals are based on the keeping and increasing of one's or one's religon's power, as power most often corrupts.

So again, it's often not the ship but the "captains" that steer us wrong.

On a side note, there's nothing wrong to find "religion" distatsteful, as if you look up its definition, it's just the following of a belief. Beliefs are meant to be questioned. You either know or you don't know.

The violence branches from two routes that religion begins to entail itself into:

1- Politics
2- Extremism

Politics is a complex thing, and people begin to divide their views depending in which sect/denomination they belong to and stick by it in return for empty promises or retalliation towards a particular group/party.

Extremism is not only in Islam although it is more "common", there is the situation in Ireland where protestants and catholics take violence as their only option. In Islam, the problem is the brainwashing undertaken by clerics who wish to fulfill some sort of personal mission rather than that of the intentions of a true muslim.

If we believe in God(s) who will punish those who "trespass against us" or "commit the sins" why do the followers have to take the matters into their own hands, surely it is up to God(s), not us... that is where this small minority have made a mistake!

I could discuss this for ages, but will it make differnce to those who already are willing to give their life for some fantasy of virgins in heaven, whilst killing themselves and other INNOCENT people (which are both against the 10 commandments of Islam & Christianity) ... i shall have to leave it for you to decide :-)

I as a Christian do not use violence to solve my problems.

To make such generalizations about all, is not kosher.

You need time to develop in your wisdom and become more complex than your question demonstrates.

Because they have forgotten their basic tenet that God will make things right in the end. They decide to take matters in their own hands, that they are acting out God's will. Don't get religion confused with spirituality. They are two separate concepts, kind of like law and justice. One can exist without the other.

Only the infidel religions of the West and Asia promote violence. We of the True Faith only respond in kind to the genocidal acts of the Crusaders and their Israeli puppets. We kill only to survive and serve Allah.

Those are anti-Christ religions, and they have many, many followers. God is love and teaches us to be like Him, slow to anger, walking in love and the ten commandments written on our hearts.

Because they are so sick of losers like you dogging on religion. Go to Iraq and sit on a roadside bomb with Susan Sarandon and Michael Moore.

It's a catch 22, isn't it? I've never understood it myself, but apparently killing in the name of God can be ok in some religions.
