They were called Jews--the nation of Israel. Jesus was referred to as a Rabbi.
Did Jesus talk about Moses? I think so, but I don't have time to look up references now. I know that He referenced Psalsm and the book of Genesis, which was supposedly written down by Moses.

Christians weren't even called "Christians" in the early days right after Jesus' death and resurrection. They were known as believers of "The Way."
The Cross, which Christians seem to revere as a symbol to the point of excess, was not used or associated with the believers of "The Way" for a long period of time. Rather, the "fish" symbol was used.
Jesus referred to Moses several times in recorded Scripture. He also stood with Moses and Elijah in the episode where He was transfigured on the mountaintop.

Jesue did talk about Moses eg, this is why Moses allowed you to write a writ of devorce, because you were so unteachable.
I am sure that Moses is sooo impress that you think he was cooler that the Son of God. NOT.

Actually after many of these answers (especially ernest's, sheesh)
I'm surprised no-one took a couple of seconds to read the very first chapter of Mathew. You know...so and so begat so and so etc.
Turns out Joseph, Jesus' earth psuedo-daddy, was the great to the tenth power grand-nephew or something of god's old pal Abraham, or Abram before god re-named him. so I suppose that would kind of make him kin to Israel. Jesus may have been the prophesied "King of the Jews" so the followers of the God in which he spoke of were actually all Jewy jewish folks, The chosen people, the morons who followed a crazy man through the desert for 40 years looking for a land of milk and honey, that turned out to not exsist at all (though the mormons think it was in missouri somewhere ha).
Also Jesus DID talk about crazy moses' drug experiments of past, and I'm surprised ernest Ernest didn't want to show off this great tidbit from the sermon on the mount :
Mathew 5:27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.
5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
5:30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Ah thats nice Jesus, ok gotta go, John the babtist is makin locust stew.
This is the crap our friends at the Catholic church always leave out when replying to blogs. Confuscate vague meanings all you want, but when Jesus says "you may have heard this....BUT"
it pretty much means either moses was full O' bull or Jesus himself was the king of the screws.
P.S.
I think both HAAA.

Yes. They had a name.
You tell us Mr. Bible Scholar. You claim to know the answers. Lets see if your all smoke or actually have any knowledge.
Of course, we know your knowledge.......snicker.....
BIBLE: KJV according to sourses:
What does God call them? Preach love to them? Lets see what God says, to do with them.
You have unbeliever's, Chaff, Scoffers.
An Atheist is a "scoffer". The WORD of God, clearly tells, ATHEISTS are filhty rags they are, and to stay away from them, and avoid them. We are NOT to plant seeds. God knows it is useless and that is why he tells us, "You stand firm against them" ( Jer.17:8 14:1 Iah 44:4) You disassociate them completely. Any Believer that does not abide in God's own Word, does not know God, according to God Himself.
Atheists are "chaff" A simile of the wretchedness of the wicked. Chaff is carried away by the lightest wind, and it's removal brings about cleansing by extracting what is utterly useless. (Ruth 1:22). They will NOT stand in the judgment. They will NOT be able to withstand God's wrath when He judges.( Pslams 76:7 Exra 9:15). This is not my opinion, this is God's very own Words, in the Bible. You know, the BIble? The same Bible atheist scholars quote. There is a reason God, said this. Psalms.1.1-3 Jer. 17:8 14:1 12. 1-2 18:9-10 Prov1.10-19 (vs 5) scoffers:(atheists) those who ridicule God and definatley reject His Law. Prov 1.:22 Ruth 1:22 Jer 18:7 (pull down-destroy) 1:10 (evil-calamity) 18:11
Pslams 1:
godly wisdom here, declare the final outcome of the two "ways". The paths of "sinners" (unbelievers) and the "way of the righteous. he speaks progressively of assoociation with the ungodly and participation in they're ungodly ways.
God said it. End of Story. Jesus Himself said "Let the dead bury they're dead".
Use all the Internet and Dictionaries they want to and call themselves anything they wish. God "defined" what they are by His own Holy Word.
They can hang a dog tag* around they're neck in the pits if hell itself and separate each other by name categorically.
God's Word said it. By God's definition. They are nothing but filthy rags. There is NO opinion.
Hate? Where do you get hate? If God's TRUTH is hate too you, then, so be it. You and God, can and will discuss the means of your scriptural interpretation, consisting with a man-made defacto on a motion of plea bargin I guess. I dunno.
I W I L L . P R A Y . F O R . A L L . A T H E I S T S. :)

The Children/Sons of God.
The Children of God, Adam to Noah lived before the flood. Then Shem, Japhet, and Ham were born. Many tribes branched off into to different places (Eastern Europe, present day Eygpt, and Asia, etc) because of the tower of babel. God wasn't forgotten, the flood and things before that were a common story to tell and became part of present day legends, a lot of them exaggerated, and then many people decided to forget about God and get other gods. Gods people still remained in various places though. It is believed that the ancient Chinese (much earlier than the ancient hebrews) worshipped Shang Di, the Lord of Heaven. They sacrificed clean animals (lambs, calves, doves) for God's pardon over sin just like Adam's children were instructed. There are also tribes in other parts of Asia with a similar God to the YHWH and kept Jewish-like. The Temple of Heaven id still in southern Beijing today. Japan also has some interesting to tell about. The Asians called the sinites in the bible. Africa also as such tribes, and Job is said to have came from there.
This was part of God's promise to Abraham:
Genesis 12:3
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
ALL the Famalies of the Earth! Not just Hebrew Israel. That's why Ruth was accepted too.

There were no Christians before Christ. There were only Jews, and Pagans (such as the Egyptians who worshipped false gods.)
