because most people are close minded gits and aren't strong in their own faith and therefore have to attack others...I say live and let live...we're all human that should be enough

Because no one takes up a certain thought and believes in it, unless they think it's the optimum best. subconsciously, it's associated that all other ways of thinking about the issue are not as good as the one they have adopted. and hence the conflict. more of grandeur delusions. but that's about the feelings only. "saying hurtful things" that's an act, and now that is a volantary thing, people should be held responsible for. those who does such things usually suffer a problem controling their mental abilities, and usually a total failure in life.

I don't try to say hurtful things to people only of different faiths. If they say something stupid, it deserves a response. I'd just like to smack some of these people here. They think they know things, but everything still needs to be explained to them...
Honestly, the stupidest thing I've ever heard from someone was a missionary in China. I was talking to him and he was saying things like, "I don't believe in fossils because I've never seen one."
How incredibly retarded is that!? He believes in god and jesus and everything, and he definitely hasn't caught slightest glimpse of any of them...

i've been taught to respect others as i would others respect me. i believe in sharing or discussing my faiths with those who are interested and not offending nor hurting them while at it.
for those who say hurtful things, maybe they were being over defensive or out of ignorance and thoughtfulness?
be sensitive people. do you actually gain happiness and satisfaction by mocking and making fun of others' faith? then that's such a pity.

It depends on the person. It might be because they can't understand, or because of fear... There are so many reasons. Just think of it all as a test of your faith. Know that you can't change these people, but you can change how you perceive it, and how you deal with it. Good luck =)

Because of imposing your faith to others, showing (acting) superiority or egoistic people hurt you. If anybody says terrorists are fighting for god by his command like that, he will be hurted.

its simple. they think their god/holy one/ faith is superior than others. they all think that their own faith is the one true faith. and they have no respect for others. thats why they say hurtful things.

It makes them feel better about their own faith. It helps them assert their "authority."
