Here's something that helped me:
Stand straight, with feet shoulder width apart. Hold a dumbbell in one hand and keep it at your side. Put the hand without a dumbbell behind your head. Bend over repeatedly to the side where the dumbbell is.
So if you're holding the dumbbell in your right hand, put your left hand behind your head and bend repeatedly towards the right. You should feel tension in your left side. Do the same on the other side. This really helps trim your obliques.
Also do alot of crunches, sit ups, leg lifts, and ab twists. Frequency is the key.
You also gotta watch what you eat though if you want to see good results.

For ab's you can do crunches (full or half), leg raises, leg bend straight, cycling kick, side bends for sides with or without weights and host of other things like running, skipping, cycling, spot jogging etc.
With dumbells you can work almost all your body parts. Best would be to start slow and do one body part a day before or after your cardio. Start with 2 excercises for each body part and slowly increase as you feel your stamina increasing.
you will see better results if you plan your diet with your workouts and also stick to it, loosing weight takes time and is not an over night process, but if you give in your best it will definetly show results.

Weight lifting will help you to lose weight some, but the best thing is really to walk or jog. A pound of fat has 3500 calories. In other words, you have to use up 3500 more calories that you eat in order to lose one pound. You really need to limit your calorie intake, and increase your activity level. Try to eliminate foods that are particularly high in calories like soda and jog for 30 minutes, 3 times per week. That will really help you out.
