It could be true, especially if it was a tragic experience for him. I'm 41 now and I remember crawling around on the dining room floor and going under my dad's chair and his cigar ash falling on me and burning me on the shoulder. It was very trematic for me, therefore I still remember it.

you know it's true. you wrote that article about him in 'celebrity stalkers asking questions on yahoo' on july 14th.
and i think it's unkind of you to keep bringing this up. you said yourself that this had a most traumatic effect on him...and you forgot to mention that his parents did eventually come back for him, and that they brought him some lovely french brie too (which ultimately caused him to suffer from severe lactose intolerance in later years, but they weren't to know)
