My mum won some in a raffle gave them to me, I said to her, I remember these, grandma always had these at hers when we went round. I took them back to my appartment, offered one to my housemate "my nan used to have these" .... later, offered my other housemate "they still make these?, I always had them whenever I went to my nans"..... a day later, guests round to watch the footie .... ALL of them said words of a similar effect. Is this the reaction of everyone?? and has anyone below 70 bought them? Can u even buy them, or do you need some sort of OAP form of an NUS .....

When I first left school....not saying how many years ago that was, however, I worked in a new newsagents, for the time, it was quite a funky/hip kinda place, and when we were setting up the store for opening, we put these out and again the same response from the staff, ooohh my nan used to have these. When we opened we had a competition to see who was the first person to sale a box to who wasnt in posession of a blue rinse......Sufice to say, no one won, only people of shall I say a certain age bought them, but hand them around, and everyone will take one. Weird.

York Fruits were a tradition in my family - everyone used to get a box at Christmas in their stockings, young, old or otherwise! They do still sell them, in fact you can still get them in some branches of Tesco, but I don't think they are as popular or well known as they once were.

To those who don't know - York Fruits are a kind of jelly sweet coated in sugar that come in various shapes of fruits - if I remember rightly the flavours are strawberry, lime, orange, lemon and possibly blackcurrant. And they are brilliant (though eat too many and you'll feel sick).

Those York Fruits your mum won in a raffle were probably found in a cupboard in a dead old lady's house. I haven't seen York Fruits for years, even in York. Who makes them, is it Terry's?

Right, I've been off and had a look, you CAN still get them!

One of the teachers I work with bought me a box last month. He is 51. I have to admit I was surprised they still make them.

The ones I really used to like were Newberry Fruits, very similar but they had a liquid centre and tasted much more fruity. I don't know if they still make those.

Unfortunately I think they're still making them. I reckon you can only buy them from the local shop for local people. You know the one, your grandma has been shopping there for over 50 years. The tangerine/mandarin ones are the worst. Remember murray mints? My grandad always had a bag in his car. I wonder if they still make those?

I have never bought them myself, but have had them given to me for my birthday once, if I remember rightly it was my granny that bought them for me, so I guess that young people don't buy them!
