You are too vague to be answered coherently. Where is the pain? What kind of pain...only tingling, stabbing, throbbing, aching, pain on movement...is it in the shoulder, muscle, elbow, lower arm, wrist? This is a medical history. We need to have the background....the type of job...daily activities. When you go to a physician, he will ask the same questions. It could be carpal tunnel but that is work related...so if you drive a car, or dig ditches, the incidence of carpal tunnel is reduced in those jobs.

Most common onset of this problem is in women 30 to 35 years old. In my experience the pain was unbearable at times - like you I woke from it during the night. It was a kind of peripheral apathy, or carpal tunnel. This exercise helped more than anything: extend your arm straight out, raising it to be level with your shoulder. there are several possibilities carpal tunnel syndrome,
tennis elbow or as someone else said a pinched nerve. a doctor can evaluate it run some tests xrays to determine what it is and give you something to calm the pain/inflamation down

sounds like a pinched nerve,maybe in your shoulder.
Go to a doctor, and s/he can check it out and see if cortisone will get rid of the problem.

working with ur hands alot... eg. typing, musicans, gardners. schedule an appt. to see is you have carpal tunnel(spelling maybe wrong)
