Well, I say don't mix whisky with anything, and I have no idea what a peg is so I can't answer that part. Pegs aside whisky is best drank straight, no additives, no ice. If you can't or don't want to drink it straight I can't help you much with mixers as I only drank a mixed whisky once and that was with coke, it was ok, but not as good as straight whisky. Though I don't know what a peg is I think its advisable to not drink more than 4 drinks (6 oz. or about 120 mL (not sure on that one, but I've been told that 1.5 oz (a shot) is 30 mL).

RE: You should never, ever mix any other alcohol with wine, especially beer. My experience is an unbelievably painful headache (not hangover) before the end of the night. If you mean physically mixing wine and beer together and consuming them it is a bad and gross idea. However SOME alcohol is mixed to create a new drink. For example Sangria can be made with Burgundy and red wine. RE: A good rule of thumb is this: "Liquor before beer, never fear. Beer before liquor, never sicker." But not everything is true for everybody. I know many folks that can and do alternate their drinks during the course of the night. For example 1st drink beer 2nd drink screwdriver 3rd drink wine. Personally if I drink the same thing all night I get sick. You have to find what works for you

Depends on what kind of whisky:

Single malt scotch: nothing, or a splash of lake water, or on the rocks
Blended scotch: club soda and ice
Crown Royal: on the rocks
Canadian: 7-UP
Bourbon: a little sweet vermouth, or crushed orange/cherry juice/sugar as an "Old Fashioned"
Irish: in coffee
Japanese: on the rocks

If you want to try sometyhing completely different, drop a handfull of gummies (gummy bears, sour kids, etc.) into your whisky. They'll transfert their sugar to the drink and absorb the alcohol... then you can get drunk eating gummies...
