Ah well i think there is something here about man taking responsibility for the earth and looking after it rather than just being an 'unruly tenant'. By getting Noah (mankind) to save and care for the animals god was demonstrating that man should be a caring and compassionate steward of the earth rather than a wild, rampaging and destructive force. Lets not take the story too literally eh but its the meaning thats important and meanings are also personal and can be interpreted and reinterpreted an awful lot so we also have to be moderate in our literal belief of the bible.

these r the questions dear that u will find answers only in Quran. truth remains the truth. y christians r not able to answer this? they will answer when they have some true source of guidence.though i believe in BIBLE as book from Allah but today's bible is not true. its changed by men. first of all Quran has mentioned that Noah's ark will be preserved for coming generations so that they can know that it is not mere a stroy told but the TRUTH. for all of your ppl information Ark is claimed to be discovered in Turkey. investigations r going on to prove it whether its really that ark or something else. it is found on top of mountain that proves the flood, coz without flood a boat can not go on top of the mountain. the length and structure of ark is as , as its mentioned in old bible and Quran. so its not mere a story or fairy tale as some of u ppl said above.
about the animals question- do u think it would b more logical if it was said that all of the animals on earth was asked by God to march on boat???? do u think that would sound more convincing n worth believing? thousands n thousands of years back the human community was confined to a small place/area on earth. geographically it was not discovered n vast as it is today. mojority of the world parts were totally unknown to humans. the flood was local, no where its mentioned that it was universal. but since the human community was confined to that small area where the flood came, so all of the human race was destroyed badly. yea God can create everything again. but HE wanted to show somthing to non-believers. still Noah gave an open invitation to every men n women to acompany him. but only the believers came along him.
Why would God go to all the trouble ............ ask this from christians, why God sent HIS son for sacrifice??? why HE didnot solved all the problems with one blink of eye?????
MASS MURDER........ this sounds so stupid. the one who is creating u, giving u life, if takes ur life back so would it be a murder???? if u die, u mean God has murdered you???? if u get punishment for your wrong doings, u will say i was defenseless and God took away everything from me as punishment, wow what a thinking u have got. u mean that ppl should go on doing bad and God should keep quite since human is defenseless. you got the weapon of BRAIN. use that other wise it will get rust on it. u are given all the choices in front of you. this is good this is bad. this is truth this is lie. this is fake and this is original. then u are asked u to opt the right one. moreover u r pre-told that if u select the wrong choice, u ll be punished for that. just as you answer wrongly in exams and come with FAIL on your report. u r definitely punished by teachers n parents.
about why God bothered to take even the 2 speicies of animals if he could ve create them again???????? tell me Mr. even if he got 2 of them and later on the couple produced kids n offsprings, what do u think who gave them the power of regeneration/reproduction???? if i am concieving a baby, do u think its me who is bring that life in world??? that life is coming with Allah's great will. if He doesnt want then i can never ever concieve even if we(husband+wife) try our best. so taking the 2 of each speicies is not of any importance for HIM but may be HE wanted to staisfy our minds also. HE has logics and HE has the powers.

Good question. It appears that God has a high acceptance for collateral damage. Here's another question: how many species that were on the ark became extinct because the carnivores had to eat during those 40 days?

Exactly. There's no logic at all to the original story, is there? It's blown out of proportion.
And how about the task of feeding two of every animal on the planet for 40 days and 40 nights? I bet 2/3 of the animals would have been eaten by the carnivorous animals.

News flash the bible was written by man so it is flawed.
The bible was written by the council of nice.
According to Professor Hilton Hotema, in his "Forward" to the publication of the History of the First Council of Nice originally published in 1925 by Dean Dudley, there was, in fact, a hidden agenda at the Council of Nicea. Hotema claims that the two chief Gods of the day were the Hindu Krishna and the Druidic God Hesus. The two Deities were represented by two factions at the Council, who each proclaimed that its God was the oldest and only true God. The strife between the two factions, says Hotema, had grown so serious that "vigorous action was necessary to establish a more peaceful religious state." I quote in full from Hotema's "Forward."
The burning question which the Nicean Council was called to settle, was whether the Hindu Krishna should be worshipped accordingly, or whether they should be united and molded into one God. Constantine first tried to settle the argument by proposing the adoption of both Gods. This policy failed, and the arguments of the bishops finally became so hostile between the two factions, that Constantine summoned the leading bishops of the sects to meet in council at Nicea and consider the matter.
Constantine was wise enough to have the council convene at Nicea, in the Roman province of Bythnia, in Asia Minor, so the people of Rome would have no knowledge of its real purpose. It is said that the Council convened in May and ended in August 325. But others say the struggle was so fierce in that Christian Council that it extended into September.... Sabinus, bishop of Heraclea, in a letter to a friend, stated that with the exception of Constantine and Eusebius of Caesarea, the 300 bishops who finally voted in favor of Constantine's scheme to unite the names of the two chief Gods were "a set of illiterate, simple men who understood nothing much," to quote his words.
And it was these ignorant prelates, subject to all kinds of motives, to fear of being branded heretics, their desire to agree with the Emperor and win his favor, anxiety to close the angry proceedings, that finally, by their votes, decided under duress that the world should accept and receive the name of the New God who would lead the new Religious System known as Christianity"

How hard is it to believe that God creator of Heaven and earth got every animal of each 'type' on the ark. which was actually a really big boat.
Secondly, when man fell, animals had to suffer, they had to start eating flesh, yes - animals once at only fruit.
I'm not sure about this one, but I know God is Love, and i pray that animals will have a part in heaven :P but i don't understand animals much atm anyway.

It did't REALLY happen like the Bible says. There was no world wide flood (it was a small local affair), he probably took 2 goats, 2 camels and 2 chickens. The boat was probably 15 feet long.
You can't take these stories seriously...
It's a Childrens Story - Come on guys...

if he killed animals so the rest can have a chance of life cause in that time nearly every1 were commiting great sins then that just means that god love us more then animals. if god sent his son jesus to die for us is another example that love us alot. we humans only use 10% of our brain and do not understand a few things but remember that god is a million times smarter then any human.

He's a bit of a perv. Basically what that means, like the adam and eve story, is that incest is the only way forward. I tend not to agree.
Basically there were two of every animal left so that they could bare the shame of the attrocities of all the others. This way they would not forget and not commit the same mistakes.
