but you felt like you weren't sure who's fault it was. Would you stay and answer the cop's questions or leave before they came and not get involved? Because this happened to me today, the car was right in front of me that hit another car, it was horrible! The guy that hit the other car had just gotten his license also because he came to my car and told me that and he was freakin out. Right away he was trying to blame the other driver. Please give me some answers to this one!!!

Stay.
Just say the truth and they will figure out who's at fault.

I had a bad car wreck happen right in front of my house. Next to my house is a side road.
A teen was driving by and I guess this other guy thought he could make it out before the other car got there.
He plowed the teens car so hard that it rolled over and over until it landed upside down in the ditch.

My dad and i ran over to the car, the windows were down, reached inside and unbuckled her. I got the seat belt and he held her as I got the belt loose.
Your not supposed to move an injured person but the car was on fire.

My mom called 911 and after we got her out and dragged her to my yard the ambulance and firetruck came.

My dad and I spent hours talking to the police about it.
And we didn't have to go to court or anything. We just told them what happened and how the other car just gunned it and plowed into this car.

That woman did come back and give us thank you cards for helping her.

So if your able to...just do your duty for your fellow person.

in the UK if U witness an accident legally U have to stop, as U can be prosecuted if U leave the scene, even if U where not involved in the accident, and not a lot of people know that.

personally depends on how bad the accident was, if it was a little shunt, then i would just drive on. if it was a bit more serious, i would get out and see if i could help anyone out, and try to warn traffic about it so as to have no more cars smashing into the mess

Stay and answer the cops questions. No one is expecting you to know who was at fault. The cop will only want to know what you saw. Don't deal with the drivers, just with the cop.

Stay for a while... If you are too shy and afraid to help the persons involved physically or morally, you can help them by means of giving a RIGHT, EXACT and UNBIASED testimonies regarding the said incident.

But for the meantime, you can just murmur a prayer or have the initiative to contact the police and other persons-in-authority.

Godspeed!! (^^,)

Normally I would stay, I always make sure if the other person is okay as well. Wait until the police arrive, give a statement and move forward.

By law it is a crime to leave the scene of an accident. Stay and tell exactly what you saw. It wont be up to you to place blame, just give the facts.

isn't this kind of late? didn't you already get involved/avoid the situation?

it's none of your business so i would say continue on your way. but if the guy comes up to you like that, i would wait for the cops and tell the truth. the kid's gotta learn some day.

You are not required to be a witness. If you are asked, either tell what you saw or say you really didn't see it. This falls under the category of 'Civic Duty' which few people are willing to do these days.

Stay and tell the officer the truth. And BTW - if he rear-ended the car in front of him, it is automatically his fault.

I would say you should stay but distance yourself from parties, injured or not. Your perception can become very distorted. There is no concrete law that states you must act as witness. Do what you think is right for all parties....including yourself
