I hope you are not American because you could ask the same question back when the Indians lost everything..........What gave the right to the settlers to take away land and the rights of the Indians. It is the same question that should have been asked back then! The United States did exactly the same thing and now THEY have the gal to go in and tell another country that they cannot do what the US did 100's of years ago to settle the northern continent into the USA!

According to the United Nations Security Council, Israel, in establishing settlements in the Palestinian and other Arab territories occupied since 1967, has no legal validity, and constitutes a serious obstruction to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East. Furthermore, the United Nations Security Council deplores the failure of Israel to abide by numerous Security Council Resolutions. As an Occupying Power, Israel has been called on to abide scrupulously by the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilians in Time of War; to rescind its previous measures; and to desist from taking any action which would result in changing the legal status and geographical nature, and materially affecting the demographic composition of the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem, and in particular, not to transfer parts of its own civilian population into the occupied Arab territories. Israel has been repeatedly condemned for its disproportionate acts of violence which have resulted in the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives; and has on many occasions, been urged to refrain from further acts of violence.
If we are to respect Israel’s ‘right to exist’ let it exist within the boundaries allocated to it. Acquisition of territory by force, is and always should be ‘inadmissible’ as it takes away the rights of others to exist!!!

This question is no longer relevant. Israel is not going to be removed, replaced, or destroyed. Whether or not it should be is not a factor, the task cannot be accomplished.
More people will benefit if Jews and Muslims agree to live in peace. This is not a fair solution, but in the long run the one that will be best for all.

I was quite amazed by the contribution of Ignorant Ame...(rican?). But the unfortunate thing is that this treachery goes beyond just imposing despotic and hypocritic leaders on Muslims. I read a novel sometimes ago tittled the "Confession of British spy" which states in unequivocal terms how the west (most especially UK) tried emphatically to distabilise Islam by creating divisions in the belief and practice of the Reliegion. How they sent british spies to Turkey, Egypt and finally Iran in order to create islamic Opinions that supported their cause, which they did with some level of sucess and is still prevelent in the practice and teachings of the reliegion to date.
This idea of imposition is not peculiar to Arab countries alone but to all countries that are viewed to be opposed to Britan in the colonial era. This was also the pactice in many African countries with resouces worthy of tapping, verile human capital that could pose significant threat to western interests and countries with Muslim dominant population.
They were able to convince and even balckmail one scholar named Muhammad of Al-Najd who was a reknowned scholar and from whom they were able to spread all sorts of divergent Islamic teachings on Marriage, Muslims Life etc. and that gave birth to the shiites of today. The most accepted, most authenticated version of Islamic practice and law is the equivalent of todays sunni group. Some of the views canvassed by the Shiites are anti-Islamic and based on self thought.
But from the trend of things, there is an overwhelming outrage against this leaders worldwide and if care is not taken, we may be itching closer to a big revolution that is definately not in favour of the western european countries and their interest. And this seems to be unstoppable.
Your write-up is a nice piece.
To answer the question, the jews refused a proposal for a statehood in europe and opted for the palestine territory then controlled by the British in 1947. They also carried out attacks on Arabs in 1967 to acquire more lands and has been the major source of terrorism worldwide.
No country has the right to infringe another country's sovereinty except it were attacked first.

They were there before the Palestinians. However they were then invaded, sold into slavery and ejected from the land, after which Palestinians moved in when Islam was on the rise.
Incidentally, I read that the UN and Israel did try to split the land with Palestine, and it was outsiders such as Syria, Egypt and Jordan which disagreed to this and attacked Israel instead.
The ill feelings in the area are very very old and deeply ingrained. They will not change overnight, or even in our lifetime.

The bottom line is that Israel exists. It is no better or worse than any other political entity, historical precedents nonwithstanding.
And like any other political entity, it (must) play by the rules of the international community or else suffer the inevitable consequences. Terrorist organizations and rogue states forfeit any right to bargain for a seat at the table, since by and large they either manipulate or coerce their respective peoples, and have little regard to the rights of others or the consequences of their actions on others.

How far do you want to go back, 3,000 years? They keep getting booted out, but still manage to return every other millenia. Egypt and Babylon come to mind.
Their sacred sites are on top of jewish sites which are on muslim ruins which were built on ancient jewish temples which were in turn built on.....how far does this go back???
The ark of the covenant is probably still buried there, the temples of david and saul are there, i guess the crossroad of east and west is a never ending boiling point.....
