Has someone swapped the Uk with Poland whilst I slept or am I going mad? Every where go I am surrounded by Polish people. Every waitress in every restaurant is polish.
No problem with the Poles as a race but what the F*ck is going on. I live in Scotland.

What happened while you were asleep is that the UK became one of only three of the 15 old EU countries to allow people from the 10 new EU countries to work here freely. The government seriously underestimated the number of jobseekers who would come from Eastern Europe. When the other old EU member states lift their present restrictions, then those seeking a better life will have more options. I volunteer at a homeless shelter and most of the people we have coming in are now Polish, but I sure like Polish waitresses' cute accents.

I wouldn't worry about speaking Polish yet, but there are parts of America where one is expected to speak Spanish. And I would worry about what happens when Bulgaria joins next year. Rampant criminality unchecked by the government is a serious problem there, and no doubt a lot of their criminals will love to get into the UK.

you should not critise the poles their willingness to do backbreaking labour for low wages has destroyed the economy of poland. Perhaps if people in scotland were prepared to work for slave labour wages, take abuse from the boss, never ask for silly things like health and safety or a pension and live 20 people in a bedsit then scotland would be a great economy like poland.
And how come when a scottish lass applies for a job as a waitress 9/10 shes knocked back because she doesnt have 2 years experience yet some sexy pole with no checkable work history gets snapped up. and why should employers give a job to some recently qualified plumber when he got 5000 applicatants from poles with 25 years exp willing to work for min wage.
when your prepared to abandon your kids and go live in a forgien country and drag it down to the level of the motherland then you can complain. until then learn polish.

Maybe you should and then you could 1) speak to the people you are referring to and see that they really are just people like the rest of us 2) go and work in Poland and realise how difficult it is to work in a foreign country away from your friends and family and 3) appreciate the skill involved in learning to speak another language. The world is too full of hate.

Yes - Learn Polish. It's easier to understand than Scottish! Hehe.
I've noticed a lot of Poles up here in the North at the moment, especially labourers. They seem to work hard and aren't religious nuttas.
