Do you think it would be a good idea if Cops had a camera device on their person while they were on tour so that every single thing the cop saw was recorded to a small flash drive of some type.

I think it would help police dispute claims of corruption and illegal activiy or negligent homicide in the event of a shooting.

As for placement, I think it could be put into an article of clothing such as the hat or the shoulder similar to what is done in sting operations.

The way I see it, the only reason anyone should be against this is if they are doing something used to doing something they shouldn't be doing or want to hide.

I asked an NYPD cop about this and he was immediately against it.
Of course, this cop also ran outside his house once firing shots at someone who tried to steal his car and got suspended for it for a couple weeks without pay.

I'm a bit of a bueareacrat but I believe if Cops have the power to kill, they should have the burden of proof placed on em.

The technology is not quite there yet, but inevitable. Once the technology can do what you suggest I suppose it will be implemented. Many of the NY police work in manhattan and do not have squad cars with cameras because of the large number of foot patrols there. I guess that is why you are asking. Many patrol vehicles now have cameras that are activated when the mars lights are activated.

Many districts and communities make it mandatory for police to appear before a grand jury and a special review panel whenever there is a shooting.

Always remember, you are always second guessing a cop who may have only seconds to decide what to do. If any program or monitoring system gets in the way by being cumbersome and interferes with the performance of a police officer...the whole idea should be scrapped.

Most major city departments already have camera's mounted in their vehicles. To mount a camera on the gun or clothing would compromise any officer trying to remain undercover. Not to mention a camera is like big brother watching. No one wants their actions on the job scrutinized, especially when on film. Personally I don't see the big deal in having one. I think there are a lot of shootings that occur with questionable circumstances and a camera would clear that up. As far as catching bad cops in action, do you honestly think they would conduct criminal behavior when they have a camera on them? Absolutely not.

You are wrong about someting. Cops dont have the power to kill. They will only kill certain people (terrorits, criminals etc.). If a cop is to shoot someone without reason, he shall be in court imediately. I am not gona answer ure quest. cause it is only for "cops". But just to remind you cops dont have any power to kill. If a cop was shooting at me without any reason, I'll just shoot back.

no the idea of having a "cop cam" is not a good idea. the recordings can always be deleted if illegal activity was recorded. if it was possible, it would be a waste of money
