Insomnia is usually caused from stress. Perhaps you have too much on your mind.....thinking and worry can cause many people to not sleep. After 38 hours you will start to wear down eventually. Your body will sleep......read up on sleep deprivation studies.....sleep is your bodies natural defense from going crazy. You will sleep....if not call your doctor and see what they can offer you.

Most likely you are not able to still your mind enough to allow sleep to come. I am only up at this time as I am recovering from a serious surgery and there are few positions I can find that are comfortable enough to sleep. Try meditating, or if you do not have those skills lay down and act as if you were sleeping. Get in your favorite and most comfortable position for sleeping and just lay there. Even my doctor said if you can not sleep laying down and resting while doing nothing is nearly as good as sleeping.
You also might find there is something that keeps waking you something left undone. Your subconscous keeps proding you. Close your eyes in a quiet place and listen to it.
Though sometimes it is a medical issue often it is an inability to let go of something or finish what you feel you much that keeps you going. I have played computer games for hours on end and through the night and past dawn and when I reluctantly get up to go to work, I am not tired at all. Though that is a day that I tend to want more caffeine:D

Well, I am a manic-depressive & sometimes I can't sleep...as you can see I am writing this at 4:00 a.m.
You could have a chemical imbalance in your brain (as I do). There are meds that can help. If you haven't already, I suggest you might want to see a doctor. Do you have periods when you are high (as it sounds like you are now) & do you also have periods when you are sort of depressed? I do...I go down stairs, turn on some nice soothing music & stretch out on the couch...You might also try warm milk & a soothing bath...read...play a game of some sort on the computer (mine are scrabble & spider)...or whatever relaxes you....
If these don't help, go to a doc or to the mental health clinic & tell them what is going on...You definitely need some sleep.
Good luck...Nala

Don't worry about it, you're not in pain are you? You are tired, can't sleep, just go about your day as normal, take a shower or bath to relax you and take a book to bed with you.
Goodnight sweet dreams.

lie in bed and try to make your whole body limp. then think of a simple object (i think of a button) and just focus on that. i read it on some self hypnosis website but it kind of works lol. i think it just gets you to relax and just calm your brain down
