what are you using it for?
bamboo is strong and fairly light
balsa and cork are light

Depends on the application. Bass wood is relatively light and strong. It was used for early airplane propellers because of it's straight grain.

bamboo is good and there is a demand in it now for wood floors. It is grown easily and better for the environment. It looses 40 to 70 percent of its weight with drying.

i can help
teak is hard wood but brittle...not so light...
to engineer this problem requires how much necessary
is it to be light???
and how much strong???
if it's more importantant to be light...
that's a factor
