If he does a "grave wrong" to you on purpose is he really the one for you or are you deluding yourself into a terrible possibly abusive relationship that will only end badly, with plenty of tire tracks all over your back?
If it is grave is it really something he can apologize for? Grave means to me something beyond decent or even stupid behavior. More like actively hostile or at least callously indifferent to you.

It really does depend on the wrong. I could forgive him for cheating but not for hitting. I think if you have to "make" him give an apology it's not gonna be very sincere.
