I definitely would not have to sell my car for them. They are cheap. And my car, it is rather expensive.

Indeed you can create a similar looking image in photoshop but there would be some forethought and intention behind the creation of the image. The nice thing about Lomo's or Holgas are those unintentional disasters that sometimes forethought cannot provide to us. The beauty of these cameras is in their philosophy which reveals the duality of life being that at times it can be really crappy, random and blurry but out of this mess can come something truly unique, beautiful and imperfect. So the duality of these cameras is that they are both crappy and nice.

you dont need to sell a car to get a lomo, just ur undies will do. lomos r fun n they can be crappy and artistic at the same time. so which side would you wanna be in?

They're total crap and we like it that way!
Holgas are an even worse disaster!
Unfortunately, there's really no point for using them anymore - you can create the same look with any digital camera and 10 seconds in an image editor.

my daughter bought one two years ago, they are inexpensive, have a cool Russian design and take some hauntingly beautiful and strange pictures. like everything else in photography, it does not matter so much the medium as the artist behind the lens. go for it, one can never experiment too much.
