You mean Lye like lutefisk. It's an Eastern European thing...I don't get them.

Yes, in ceviche (that's Spanish) the lemon or lime has citric acid that cooks the fish, if it's well-marinated in it. I still haven't tried it, but it sounds good. It's made in Hawaiin as well as Latin American recipes.

Civiche. Citrus acid can cook the fish chemically. Lot's of people like it from Latin America to Hawaii, to Japan. Personally I hate fish and wouldn't eat it anyway it's cooked.

Yeah Alton Brown did it on Good Eats one time (the episode were he was "stranded" on a desert Island I forget the name). I tried the recipe it was DELICIOUS.
