Religion by itself can be a good thing for so many to give people a focus in their lives. The biggest problems I see are with religion being organized. I think that in the name of organized religion has turned into a business. They do take in a lot of money and people do it without question. The money is used in many material way and a dribble does go toward social concerns. My feeling is more should go toward feeding the hungry, clothing the homeless, scholarships, providing for the sick and shut in, helping the handicapped, and drug and alcohol rehab. Organized religion does us brainwashing tecniques as well to control their flocks. There are more than 30,000 variations of christianity in the world today with all of them proclaiming that theirs is the one and true religion. If Jesus were to return today I believe he would shrug off the polotic of religion and concentrate more on social issues and be amongst those who have been overlooked by this society as outcasts. I hope this doesnt shock you but I am a Minister/Pagan/Hoodoo Root Worker/Witch. I am a Christian in the sense that I try to live my life with the teachings of Jesus as one of my guides. Let your light shine so others may see your good works.

I don't have a religion - I am implicit atheist.

There are no drawbacks here, but in places with many fundamentalists..... actually, scratch that, in America, I would be treated very poorly. Americans are generally considered weird like that. That is the drawback.

Other than that - I can't think of any. I suppose a lot of people get comfort from their religion, but for the life of me I can't see why..... but that won't stop me from respecting their right to practice that religion. I just assume that they get comfort by some mechanism unknown to me.

I am only human I have no religion All that you need is just to be silent and listen to existence. There is no need of any religion, there is no need of any God, there is no need of any priesthood, there is no need of any organization. I trust in the individual categorically. Nobody up to now has trusted in the individual in such a way. So all those things can be removed. Now all that is left to you is a state of meditation which simply means a state of utter silence. Even the word meditation makes it look heavier. It is better to just call it a simple, innocent silence.

Atheism: Absolutely nothing. You do not have conflicts in your head, voices talking to you, nor fear of death as you come to accept it as a finality that's neccessary as a balance to life.

... I guess some atheists don't like the whole "not going to have an afterlife" part, but I think of that as a strength - do you want to live forever? I sure as heck don't. That'd be the most boring existence ever.

I am a Muslim, I don't see any bad things in any religion.
I believe all religions are for the betterment of society.
Only the followers sometimes fall astray and gets involved in bad things and thus cause bad name for their religion.

About my religion I can say its the true path.

You might have heard about my Religion's Holy Book, "Shrimath Bhaghavat Geetha" - buy a copy of that from any prominent publisher and go through it. Practice as said in it and reap the benifits. That is "Sanadhana Dharma"

I'm Christian. I regret that some (most?) Christian churches/denominations support war.
It is not something that Christ taught or recommended. Not even "just wars".

"Love your neighbour as yourself." and "Love your enemy." das not condone hate or war.

If we could all practice compassion and forgiveness toward the "others" the world would be a peaceful place.

I know, that wouldn'd be good for the economy :-).

Only bad thing I can think of is that there aren't enough Baha'is, because there are only 9 Baha'i houses of worship in the world.
