I think so. Religion IMO has been used over these many epocs to fill in the gaps where a good education and science have not been able to. I think its good to be spiritual, but I think if you're only answer to everything is "refer to the bible" then youre pretty dumb. Religion is also very prevelent in areas where education is very low like the middle east, or the southern united states for example. ^ _ ^. morons.

I kind of agree to some things you have said. I have a saying, "Being religious doesn't make you a good person, but it helps, and being a good person doesn't make you religious, but it helps."

I think everyone is born with their own unique spiritual connection with the world around them. And I consider religions like the study guides, or a template for all of those spiritual beliefs. Kind of a "one size fits all" kinda thing.

I don't think people who follow religion are ignorant, but I think it is ignorant to follow religion without truly understanding it or having the capacity to think beyond it. (And I think that's who you are describing.) It's good to be passionate about your religion, but it's not good to be confined within your religion.

And I think morality is kind of gray, not a cut and dried thing as different religions portray it. I think everything has extenuating circumstances, because life is not so easy as "abstain this, promote that."

Are you aware that the southern united states is not necessarily of lower learning standards than any other portion of the united states? You have mentioned this on several occassions and just because they don't measure up to some governmental testing standard doesn't mean they don't "know" - it just means they probably have more common sense. I'm not a moron. I'm an Arkansan. I'm a woman. I'm a caucasion with a fine mixed heritage. I'm a preacher's kid and granddaughter. I'm a Christian. I'm also educated - ya know, college and the whole higher learnin thang! I love the sciences as they confirm more and more just how awesome God is and how marvelous are his ways. I think if the only answer you can give is refer to the Bible, then you're missing a great opportunity to be a witness, but I don't think it makes your looks change at all, or your educational abilities. Do you know I grew up believing that anyone born north of the Mason Dixon line was a heathern and had no use for God? When I became an adult I realized how ludicrous that was. Have you not grown up yet?

Religion can be seen as a crutch but the people behind it are not dumb nor are morons. Only those who sit back and give destructive criticism are dumb morons which is not helping science and education for this generation and others to come. You should "refer to the bible" because it will help you get morals.

Religion is what you make of it. It's a personal, individual thing, and it's up to you to decide how much it shapes your beliefs and outlook on the world. There will always be people who take anything too far, but don't write off all religions; remember, Christianity is not all that's out there (plus not all Christians are fundamentalist wackos, but they aren't the ones who get press time).

Oh I can't wait to answer this..........If you think religion is for morons because they're answers come from the bible and based on beliefs, you have to realize that most poeple base their lives on beliefs and written phrases similar to how some believe the bible without really thinking for themselves.

Think about it. A scientist (and not all are this way) can say something to be true and have what he wants to say published in a magazine. The article may only show theories but not actual hardcore facts or evidence. Because it's science, and published in an important magazine, many people just believe it like the bible, and base part of their life on that info without ever thinking for themselves about it, or truly scientifically about it. Never learning from experience if what they read was actually true to in order to find the real truth. In that sense, science becomes a religion to them, regardless if they say what they think is fact. How can it be fact when you blindly believed what ever was written in the magazine?

Look at Feminism. Many aspects of feminism is good. However somewhere it was written by a few important feminists that gender is only a construct of society, and has nothing to do with genetics or nature. If you have children, you will clearly see for a fact that isn't true, but many people who read that who feel strongly about feminism will blindly believe that the same way some religious people believe what they believe. They won't even question it logically and thoroughly and truly scientifically. In that sense, feminism to those people becomes a religion, regardless if they say what they learned about gender is fact. How can it be fact if they haven't tested it themselves and thoroughly question what they've read, instead of simply believing what they read?

It's not religious people who are morons, it's anyone who blindly believes in something without REALLY questioning what they've learned in order to find the real truth. THOSE people are the REAL morons, and they come in all shapes and sizes, whether religious or not, democrate or republican, black or white, male or female, young or old, it just doesn't matter. Stupidity has no limits.

And not all religious people believe in things blindly either. They are not all morons. The ones who carefully think and analyze logically about what they think to be true are far from moronic. The ones who blindly believe what ever they are told...morons.

And for the record, I'm not religious. I've just met some who were very smart about what they think about life. I might sound too blunt or even waay out there with this answer and I might get nothing but pure negative ratings for it, but I based this off of experience, not blind beliefs. Thats as honest as it gets.

Religion is for those who have religion. You have your own religion but you may not even realize it. Everyday you look in the mirror and praise that person you see. Oh, you handsome devil you. You may even worship him. Perform daily rituals, stuff him with food, give him a splash of cologne to keep it smelling good, cloth him with the best apparel and bless his way so that all will be well for the day.
Religion IMO is both personal as well as social. My religion is born of my upbringing, my education, my experiences and observations and the way I perceive deity as has been handed to me by my father. That is my own religion. The other religion is of my own choosing. A community or sect, if you will, which I have chosen for social interaction. These two are neither divergent nor inconsistent. Every one has religion. Every one is a moron.

Morons? I wouldn't go that far. Religion is the one area where people fail to use logic. There are people who are quite intelligent outside of their religious beliefs, but they believe in religion because of the promise of an afterlife. It's more like a crutch for people who can't face reality.

Thank you Jebus!

Finally a fellow Infidel! I agree with your statement.

Yes, the religious are being led like horses with blind on, they only hear and see what they want. They need to open their minds to all things and make their own decision, instead of "the Bible" telling them what to do.

I am an athiest based on research at collegiate level. Religion is not for me.
