caucasian women over the age of 60 who start to experience the same symptoms as described above should be checked for C-Reactive and ESR(sed rate)and RF..If RF is negative but C-Reactive and ESR is high(Inflammatory markers) ,it is likely not Arthritis and not Fibromyalgia but rather something closely related called Polymyalgia Rheumatica..It will respond only to Prednisone...The only other possibility is muscle wasting due to long term use of statin drugs which would then have to be discontinued..
