Thanks for the answers, however I'm not a drinker and don't frequent pubs. If I were and did, I'd take the advice.
Any other options?

Good question! I have the same problem. feel sorry for you. My wife has health problems too and we have small children - I get a double whammy.
Have you tried church groups. Hillsong Church has help in many areas, maybe this one too.

Your wife needs appropriate treatment. Have her consider bioidentical hormones administered by an alterntive physician (you/her) might have to do research to look one up. There are quality physicians who take care of causes and address problems based on beneficial therapies. Most nowadays don't just offer quick remedies which don't provide much benefit.
Also have her consider dong quai, chaste berry and black cohosh.
To alleviate symptoms of hormonal imbalances, she should also consider the recommendations from these doctors:
