lipvixen gave a really good answer. I believe the supplements she recommended are amino acids and have been shown to be very helpful for a lot of people. A good doctor can actually do a blood test and from that determine if your amino acids are low, so you can know if you'd benefit from that kind of therapy. I have dealt with feelings of anxiety and depression myself, and I went to a doctor who did a physical and a complete panel of blood tests on me. My amino acids were fine, but I was low in a number of vitamins including vitamins B12 and Calcium, both of which can cause depression or anxiety if you're deficient in them. I'm currently on megavitamin therapy and I believe its helping me. You can find a good doctor who will look for the underlying cause of your feelings at http://www.alternativementalhealth.com which is sponsored by an organization named Safe Harbor.

have not heard of it, but if you have been on meds for over 2 months and are still having bad depression most days you may need a different med, effexor-xr was a life saver for me and worked when others did not also buspar is for social anxiety and is non addictive and worked great...just 2 of many choice find a med that helps and change it if it does not....always take as prescribed -melissa

Try 5HTP from Nature's Bounty. It helped me deal with mild depression, anxiety, insomnia and stress eating. I would take one at night then again the next morning. I get scared with those that need prescription.

If you don't want to get sleepy during the day take L-tyrosine in the morning or DMAE. They enhance mood and prevent stress eating and mood swings. Side effect though is that you might eat less and lose weight.
