I'm a Christian and I don't hate the Jews. I like Buddhism, Hinduism, except Muslims, I don't like them and I don't hate them, because they killed my uncle. Anyway, so why does Mel hate the Jews so much, does it say in the bible not to like them?

Many Christians feel that jews killed christ to protect their own religion. Some of them teach their children that. And some of them are reinforced by a narrow minded community.

Hate really is an irrational emotion - there very often is just no good reason for it.

Peace!

I cannot speak personnally for Mr. Gibson, but his attitude reflects that traditionally of the Roman Catholic Church. Remember that the Roman Catholic Church has since very early times tortured, robbed and killed Jews. Read Walter Scott's _Ivanho_.

Isabella and Ferdinand (friends of Columus, remember) forced the Jews to either convert, move out or die in Spain.

During WWII, the Pope and Cardinals supported the Nazis in their "Final Solution" for getting rid of Jews.

Some say it is because the Roman Catholic Church helped establish Islam. Mohammed's first wife was a rich Catholic widow. The Pontiff wants the Holy Land back from the Jews. Interesting speculation.

Of course hatred and crimes against the Jews has been justified by labeling them "Christ killers" by the Catholics. This is ironic since Jesus was leading an insurrection against the Romans and the Romans crucified him with the placque "King of the Jews" rightly affixed over his head.

You will notice Mr. Gibson did make that horrible snuff film about Jesus. It did not emphasize the resurrection or mission, instead dwelt heavily on the crucifiction. That is kind of telling.

Anyway, I hope Mr. Gibson gives up the hatred and his driving while drunk. I have had three friends killed by drunk drivers. I don't care how much money someone makes or how holy they are, drinking and driving is wrong.

Many Christians blame the Jews for the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ...I don't think it's very logical to hate a nation for a hand full of people that died 2000 years ago. It would be like hating all Germans for what Hitler did, and don't tell me you think that's fair! Muslims have a wonderful culture and their system of beliefs is interesting. I have read the Coran out of curiosity and I found it a very interesting book. Yes, some of them killed a lot of people, but don't you think it's wrong to hate a new born Muslim baby that hasn't even made one wrong thing just because someone in another part of the world with the same religion as this child will be taught killed someone. Keep in mind the fact that nowhere in the Coran is there anything that justifies and encourages the killing of another person of different beliefs. Moreover tolerance is something that is encouraged. intolerance against a certain belief is not uncommon and most of the time there is no clear reason for this. I am a Christian as well and I don't have anything against any religion since I was taught to respect and tolerate any belief. I don't have to agree or like it but I have to respect anyone's choice since they have the right to choose and believe in whatever they like.

The Bible does say, God talking to Abraham, "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you." The Bible (New Testament) doesn't look upon Jews favorably, but it doesn't say to hate them. Thessalonians (a Book of the New Testament) says something about "the Judeans, who killed the Lord Jesus...", but I'm not sure if it is referring to the Jews as killers of Jesus (as they were unfortunately branded during much of early Christianity), or referring to the Jews (Caiaphas, Annas, Judas, etc...) who conspired against Jesus. As to why Mel hates Jews so much, you ultimately would have to take that up with Mel. I've heard reports (I don't know if they're true or not) that Mel's father was a Holocaust denier, and Mel grew up in an ultra-Conservative Roman Catholic family that rejected Vatican II, and that their family was very anti-Semitic. I don't truly know why Mel would have made those remarks, except that he was drunk. Then again, there's always the saying, "The best way to get the truth out of somebody is to get them drunk".

Are you asking this based on that recent drunk driving insident he was in? You can't posibly know if Mel Gibson really and genuinely hates Jewish people or not until you meet him and watch his actions personally. Don't believe everything the media puts out. If he does indeed hate Jews, no one here will be able to speak for him, they'd only be speculating or making up their own stories. You instead, would have to ask him.

You make an assumption that he does.
BTW you don't like Muslims ( 1.4 Billion people) because they (1.4 Billion) killed your uncle . I, safely, assume some of them did, right. The same logic pushes some christians to hate Jews ( I don't agree with that but your question contains the answer) Christians love Jesus more than you love your uncle and some of them blame the Jews for his death.

First off we don't know that he "hates" anyone. All we know is that in a drunken stupor he said some things that were not flattering towards jews in general and it could have been as simple as someone of the jewish faith ticked him off earlier in the day. We do know that he recieved a harsh upbringing that could have given him a leaning towards distrust for the jews (in the form of a father who evidently DID hate the Jews but also didn't get along to well with his own son) I do know that all of us are sinners and If Mels sins include a tendancy to look down on one race I believe it is a sin that he struggles against just like we all try to struggle against our own sins. I pray he will get through this trying struggle just as I pray for myself and all other sinners.

Mel was probably torqued about how much his agent was skimming, or some director might have pissed on his boots. The guy was tanked and having a bad day, why make so much of it. If he hated Jews that much, he wouldn't be working in Hollyweird.

at first i was offended by him saying this, but then i found out one of the people who arrested him was Jewish. The Jewish people feel that when he made the movie "The Passion" It bought up stuff such as the usual thing Jews Killed J-sus but to me it was a very touching movie and i believe he was supposed to do it. I did not blame the jews for it but found myself thankful that he would make this movie to help me better understand...now talk about difficult i am jewish and yet i hear the jewish people upset with him and i cannot blame them but at the same time i understand his words..maybe he was mouthing off who knows..but i more so then his comments i wonder what has happen in his life to cause him to start drinking again. I was so proud he stopped and was sadened by him starting again. I think we all have to have respect for one another and each others relgion and realize we all have a place in this world and its more important to get along and go to heaven then it is to worry about who is what..true he said he was sorry and i think and wanna think maybe he is..
