You'll find out when you apply, they run a criminal history check and then decide based on the laws of the state you're in. Some states do consider some misdeameanor convictions as grounds for deniel of a CCW permit. (NJ,MA, NY) Texas has pretty lax laws compared to a lot of states on that front.

If your case was dismissed, what did you pay $500 for?? There was no record to clean.

Call any local law enforcement agency, they can tell you in a heartbeat. Or look online at http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/chlsindex.htm

Alaskans fought tooth and nail to get a concealed carry law and a few years after the law was passed the State made it legal for everyone to carry concealed even without a permit as long as you meet the requirements. Ahhhh, Alaska!
