Hi Ajafifi,
I disagree strongly with the previous two answerers, except for the reference to aluminum. Correct that there is no cure, and about 30% of the population will get it. However, recent and even some not-so-recent research shows ways to delay its onset and once symptomatic, lessen its severity.

I did a quick web search for you. I found an excellent article listing a bunch of homeopathic (natural) supplements that show promise in delaying its onset or lessening its severity. Here's the list:
circumin component of tumeric, or tumeric extract
Ginkgo Biloba
DHA (in fish oil)
sage (Salvia officinalis)
one alcoholic beverage a few times per week
Vinpocetine
Acetyl L-Carnitine (not L-carnitine)
GlyceroPhosphatidylCholine (GPC)
Huperzine A (synergistic with GPC)
Phosphatidyl Serine
...and here's the article I found:

I hope this helps you.

Often Alzheimer's will skip a generation; however, because it is a hereditary disease there may be no way to prevent its onset. It is a common belief that one should avoid using aluminum pots/pans for cooking. The same goes for using aluminum foil. There have been some recent studies conducted that have proven successful with using a medication that is used to treat a different medical condition. I'm sorry though, it was a while and I don't recall what it is called. You'll have to do more an Internet search and/or consult with you family physician or specialist

I don't really think you can ward it off unless they have come up with drugs that I'm not aware of. Alzheimer's is a new name for what people used to call senility and I think it is something that you get genetically like diabetes or high blood pressure..
