there are many arguments for the existence of God, but God has also given us free will. many people exercise their free will in favor of their own hubris or pride - that they are in control of themselves and their surroundings, and that they are entirely self-sufficient in this world - and do not seek to search beyond themselves for a deeper answer. some call it rationality, others egoism.

Just because something is unexplainable, it doesn't mean there must be a supernatural explanation for it. Look at the Ancient Greeks; they thought lightning was caused by Zeus getting angry at people. I mean, wow, a huge bolt of electricity shooting from the clouds? How could that NOT be the result of some sort of deity? It's far too impressive to just be some regular 'ol natural occurrence. And as it turned out, it indeed had nothing to do with the supernatural, obviously. The same, I think, is true for a lot of things that we can't explain just yet. They may be amazing to us, but we just don't understand the inner workings of them yet, just like we don't understand so much else in this universe.

The Fool Has Said . . .
Atheists are naturally offended by the Bible’s declaration that “the fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’” (Ps. 14:1a; 53:1a). The meaning of this statement is not that atheists are stupid or lacking in intelligence, but that the denial of God is evidence of the moral corruption in their thinking. Nor is this statement aimed solely at atheists per se. The very next lines assert that “there is none who does good” and that they have all “become corrupt” (Ps. 14:1b-3; 53:1b-3). The apostle Paul quotes these lines to prove that all human beings are morally corrupt and deserve God’s judgment (Rom. 3:9-12).
The folly or foolishness of atheism, then, is ultimately just one particularly overt expression of the universal impulse in human beings to turn away from the true and living God and to follow a path of their own choosing. If the Bible is right, atheism will fall into patent foolishness, not because atheists are intellectually challenged but because they are intellectually prejudiced against God. Moreover, in discerning the foolishness of atheism we will also be seeing the foolishness to which we are all prey apart from God’s gracious revelation of himself to us.

why are there so many that do? u just answered ur own question.
the fact that there ARE so many unexplainable things is the reason why some people don't believe. and they all have a right to believe or disbelieve without people judging.

I don't want to blame God for all the horrific injustice done to innocent people, but if He exisits, He is the creator of our nature.
I would rather not believe in Him than to hold Him, the creator, responsible.
Hopefully if God does exist, this world is not reflective of Gods nature.
The "Good Book" says God made man in his image.
Woe!

Progression of humanity. Once we believed in the earth mother, and then a Pantheon of Gods, then into just one God.
Science probably helps this along as well. Myths and religion don't hold a lot for people when they believe in science more.

Absence of evidence. There are many things in the world that can be explained, and those that can't should be studied until the true cause is found.

Sometimes people evolve and think for themselves and look to logic instead of accepting a traditional superstition past down from generation to generation, or sometimes something happens in their lives where they know there cannot be a god.

some must go through an emotional trauma first to clear an open space for God to enter. many call this a burning bush experience. i was one of the lucky ones to experience this. i was so empty, just did not know.

Just because we can't explain the event, we have to believe it is a 'miracle' or 'god's intervention'. I guess it is always easier to believe than to understand. Try to ask yourself why you believe what you believe. What evidences convince you? An idle mind tends to just believe, an inquiry mind tends to understand.
