as was said, for some cameras yes, others no.
But- you could get yourself a card reader and just pop the card out of the camera and put it in the card reader to download your pics.
Card readers are very handy and convenient. Easier than dealing with an extra cable for your camera in most cases. Also, a lot faster.

it depends what kind of camera you have, some camera uses standard USB to mini USB cable others use special USB cables that only work on certain modeles, you can take your camera to any store that sells camera and ask them if they have that cable or not.

Yeah, as long as it fits the connection to the camera.
There are different USB connections on the end. Some are fairly square, some are fairly flat.
