Hi Ajafifi,

Yes, women should take a different multivitamin than men. There are multivitamin formulations made specifically for the needs of women, which are different from men.

I did a web search for you. I found an excellent editorial (professionally written) article (besides a bunch of ads which I don't trust) that compared a whole bunch of different multivitamin brands here:

One answerer said that all the multivitamins are the same so buy the cheapest. What a joke. **BEWARE** In fact, a recent Consumer Reports article reported that dosages varied the most for the cheaper, off-brands. Some of the ones at the dollar/closeout stores contained toxic substances (lead in calcium from oyster shells). The best, most well-known brands generally had accurate labeling.

I hope this helps you.

If you're still having your period, you probably would do best with a multivitamin with iron, to help your body replace the red blood cells that you lose every month with your period. If you're not having your period, you and he could take the same multivitamin. My husband and I use a generic brand of Centrum Silver, since we're both in our 60's.

Hope this helps.

Yes. Take One a Day. There is one for men, and one for women. If you have heavy periods take the one with a lot of iron. Be careful though, if you don't, its best to skip out on the extra iron. Most women's vitamins put too much iron in the body which is stressful on the digestive system.

P.S. You should take 500 mg of calcium twice a day-- once in the morning, once at night. (1000mg can't be absorbed at the same time)

depends on your ages. i work in a pharmacy and they do recommend that women take a women's one-a-day multivitamin, although they don't really swing one way or the other about men. but women need more calcium, folic acid, etc. in their diet than men. so i'd say to take separate ones.

Most vitimans are about the same in quality, so dont buy the expensive ones. I would recommend an off-brand multi-vitiman ,each made specifically for men or women...
