Well, if any crumbs get on the floor, I've had several animals that will lick the floor for them anyway. I've always thought that it was better to hand an animal a treat because you want the animal to know it's from the master.

Dogs have much more advanced immune systems than humans. I also can almost grantee that you can find something that you eat regularly that it would be safer for you to lick the floor. If you have a house where dogs can be exposed to chemicals that may harm them you are not a fit owner for a dog. Also, please take a look at your dog's food and water dish, if you personally would not eat and drink from those before you have washed them then maybe you should be more concerned with that than the cleaners on your floor.

Our dogs lived to ripe old ages while eating treats off the floor.
Maybe new dangerous chemicals are being used.
Did you know that airline pilots a forbidden to drink any diet softdrink with Nutra Sweet in them? Now that's some dangerous chemicals.

thats the first thing i taught my puppy, to sit, then gently take the treat from my hand.. i hate dogs that bite the hand when you try to give them a treat because the owner didnt teach the dog to take a treat from the hand.
and yes i will not feed dozer off of the floor, its dirty.

it's best to give your dog a treat from your hand so he/she knows who it's owner is, and be more loyal towards you
