Ok, I got a lot of retarded questions about humans being primates. So I thought I would give some people a little 5th grade education on the subject. There are things living on the Earth, we have chosen to classify them in to groups that have the same characteristics. The different groups go like this; Kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and species. The term primate is the classification that falls under order, underneath this classification, we share similar characteristics. Monkeys, apes, chimps and humans. We as humans evolved from a common ancestor that apes, and chimps evolved from. This primate, which is extinct now was called Aegyptopithecus; this creature does not exist anymore because it has evolved into either humans, chimps or apes. When this creature walked the Earth, there where no humans, chimps or apes; that’s why they and we are here today. So, does that clear everything up for everyone? We are in the classification of mammals by the way.

how do we know this...we have only found bones in places we had dug up...there are billions and billions of places on this planet that we have yet discovered. It seems like every few years we find remains that date back farther and farther...we don't know who or what was here first...we may never know...and what we call time ..as in millions of years ...could be a fraction of that in reality...and we just haven't figured that out yet....

I think you will find that 'if we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys' will continue to be asked here 10+ times a day no matter what you do.

The people asking BS like that are fresh off their Hovindesc brainwashing tour and ready to spread their manure. They don't bother searching for similar questions first, because they're too excited about the idea of converting people with this great new argument they're sure no-one has heard.

For the one who said why haven't they found a fossil of the Aegyptopithecus, they have, mostly in Egypt. Furthermore, if you need fossil evidence where are Adam and Eve's remains? Please do not misunderstand, I am a Christian, however, I disdain ignorance. As for the Aegyptopithecus a.k.a. Dawn Ape, being a direct link to humans, that is highly debatable, it is a theory not a fact, and should not be passed off as such. There are several other prehistoric fellows in the running for the missing link pageant, i.e., Ankarapithecus meteai or Proconsul africanus.

Aw! Why waste your time explaining all this? R G is right, They still will not get it. These miserable people will never leave their fantasy world where there is magic and rapture for all eternity. They need their beliefs to put meaning and purpose to their lives. They are beyond the grasp of reality. Leave them be!

Thank you for that most informative lesson - of which only evolution teaches, now would you mind presenting the creationist view - at least let all things be equal - no one says it has to make sense - just as this doesn't make sense to me, the theory of evolution that is, but I appreciated your breakdown,as it has been awhile since I had been familiarized with the precise terminology. But I just get frustrated when people don't give at least an acknowledgement that their are other viewpoints.

that's your opinion--other people have their own as to Creation or Evolution

I agree with the scientific classification system, but the whole Creation/Evolution debate will go on until the end of time

Why are there no fossilized records of the Aegyptipithecus? If there are no records of it ever being here...including historical accounts, then how do we have proof of this? Just my questions, would love to talk through more than random posts, so if you ever feel like just having a non-heated conversation, feel free to email (m_ryan_a@yahoo.com) me to get IM information. I enjoy talking to someone who at least knows information for their argument.
