Is there anything out there that I can change a general color to different shades of another?? For example: Blue and Navy changes to Red and Maroon. Make sense??

I have software called Ulead PhotoImpact. It worked even on my old computer (the old lemon thing I had.) You can do awsome things with it. I've never tried photoshop, but I have to tell youthat this is my favorite picture editing tool. You can indeed change the colors of things while keeping the rest of the image intact. Then you can lighten/darken images. You can even make pictures look like they were made with water paint. cool stuff....

It helps to know what OS you are on.
- basic photo editing on windows is easy to do in paint
- more snazzy stuff is better done in adobe photoshop
- on linux, your best bet is gimp

Jasc Paint Shop Pro is my favorite it has that feature and alot more.
