Elohim is the name used for God 2,570 times in the OT. Yahweh is used to name God 5,311 times in OT. Jehovah is only used in the Old King James Version. What about some of these names - Creator (Genesis 1:1), Lord (2Samuel 7:28), Sovereign Lord (from NIV), God Almighty (Genesis 17:1), God of Hosts (Joshua 5:14), God Most High (Genesis 14:22), God of Isaac, Abraham and Jacob, The Eteternal or Everlasting, Ancient of Days (Daniel 7:9), The King (Psalm 47:6 - 8), God of Heaven & earth, Holy One of Israel (Proverbs 9:10), God of my Salvation (Psalm 88:1), God our Healer (Exodus 15:26), etc. etc. Get to know God. Isn't this wise?

Jehovah and Yahweh are two possible renderings of the Hebrew letters YHVH called the tetragrammetron. These four letters are the name of God without vowels. The Jews wrote it this way because they did not think man was worthy of pronouncing the name of God. Jehovah's witnesses kinda got hung up on Jehovah over Yahweh but they are wrong for many other reasons besides that. The biggest being that they believe Jesus is Michael the Archangel which is a blasphemous thought. Anyway it does not matter if you call Him God, Father Jehovah, Yahweh as long as you believe in His Son Jesus and follow after him. Great question and verse references on the name of God.

Gianny, there might want to be some transformations with Jehovah Witnesses, like the blood transfusion that i do not realize. the oftentimes occurring and simplier different theory of Jehovah Witnesse concerns that they call God in reality Jehovah. i'm a Methodist and in translating the Hebrew to English we and optimal different Christian religions have different names for God. El Shaddai is almighty, Abba is the private fatherly God, Shalom is the God of Peace, Elohim is a more beneficial distant God that we in reality might want to obey, and Yahweh replace into the start of God as he replace into, even above a acceptance. pondering the reality that those seem interior the Hebrew, and the previous testomony is a e book extraordinarily about them and there journies, then i might want to apply the particularly some names. All church homes determination. And after I lived in Alabama met some Jehovah Witnesses who've been very type and tolerant people, and attended a number of their centers, no matter if I belonged to a Methodist church. the position I now stay visited seen one in each and every of their church homes the position this replace into not particularly the case.

Jehovah is the personal name of the only true God.His own self-designation "Jehovah" is translated from the Hebrew Tetragrammation, which means "He Causes to Become"These four Hebrew letters are represented in many languages by the letters JHVH or YHWH.
No human today can be certain how it was originally pronounced in Hebrew,as Biblical Hebrew was originally written with only consonants,no vowels. When the language was in everyday use, readers easily provided the proper vowels. In time, however, the Jews came to have the superstitious idea that it was wrong to say God's personal name out loud,so they used substitute expressions and in time the original pronunciation of the divine name was lost.
Many scholars favor the spelling "Yahweh" but it is uncertain and there is not agreement among them.On the other hand,"Jehovah" is the form of the name that is most readily recognized, because it has been used in English for centuries and preserves, equally with other forms, the four consonants of the Hebrew Tetragrammaton.

The Hebrew word 'Elohim'(gods) appears to be from a root meaning "be strong".'Elohim' is the plural of 'elohah'(god)Sometimes this plural refers to a number of gods, but more often it is used as a plural of majesty, dignity,or excellence.'Elohim' is used in the Scriptures with reference to Jehovah himself,to angels, to idol gods(singular and plural),and to men.

You are confusing "names" with "titles".
JEHOVAH is the accepted form of God's NAME.
Elohim like God are only titles.
Creator is a title.Lord is a title.Sovereign Lord is a title.God Almighty is a title.
Can you see where I am going with this?

We use Jehovah as God's name because it is God's name.
Acts 2:21 reminds us -"Everyone who calls on the NAME of Jehovah will be saved."
So yes it would be very wise to get to know your God.
Micah 4:5 states -"For all the peoples, for their part, will walk each one in the name of its god,but we,for our part, shall walk in the name of Jehovah our God to time indefinite, even forever."

Because that's one of the trade marks of their cultish belief system. They act like if they actually know and use the one true name of God they have special power and standing in this world like if they knew a magic spell or something. That's one of the characteristics of a cult. They claim to have "special knowledge" that the other religions lack. Another sure sign of a cult is that they make Jesus out to be less than He is in their belief system.

The JW's say that He is really the created arch angel Michael. The Mormons say that they have received special new revelation and that's why they are the "latter day" saints and that Jesus and Satan were "spirit brothers".

Because Jehovah is God's name. Read Psalm 83:18.

We do call Jehovah other titles (such as God, Holy one of Israel, and all the other ones that you listed) but his name is Jehovah, and he wants us to use it.

God never revealed His name to anybody. Man created names. The Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult who believe in a flawed doctrine that is constantly being rewritten to cover-up obvious inconsistencies. I believe they chose that name just to be different. Don't get me wrong, I have some of those cult members as my friends. They are good people who are just misguided, brainwashed fanatics.

When their religion was getting started they got mixed up with the translation of Yahweh. Just another reason not to believe anything they say.
