I want to hang out on the beach and hit the clubs. SHOP! Not interested in prostitutes... what do you recommend? Whats the cost? I heard $200 for a student to bali?

I've been to both. Which you would prefer depends on what you are interested in.
The main beach area in Bali is Kuta. There are plenty of clubs and the beach is ok. There are other beaches, some upscale like Sanur/Nusa Dua and some on the other side of the Island, Singaraja. check out:

Thailand has much more to offer. Many beaches, Phuket, Ko Samui and Pattaya are the ones with more clubs. They do tend to have more prostitution than in Bali. You see many more older western men with young thai ladies. But there are many other beaches, such as near Ko Samui are smaller islands Ko Pha Ngan, Ko Tao which have a younger crowd and which are less expensive. Ko Tao is largely a diving area. No much in the way of nightclubs last I was there but plenty of smaller bars/restaurants to get together and party if you want.
Maybe also consider Ko Chang or Krabi area.
As I said there is much more to do in Thailand than just go to the beach. There is good sightseeing in Bangkok, historical sites such as Ayuthaya and Sukothai, interesting culture in Chaing Mai. And just lots of things to do and see.
If you are only interested in hanging out at the beach and going to clubs then maybe Kuta is the place for you. You can always head to to Ubud for a little change if you want.
If you have more time and wider interests then I think Thailand is the place.
Oh, as far as price. I think the big beach areas in Thailand are a bit more expensive than at Kuta. But once you get away from those it's about the same. Again it depends what kind of place you want to stay in.
Don't know what you mean about $200 to bali. For a flight? From where? To stay? how long and what kind of place?

If you are interested in shopping you can go to Thailand becasuse its very cheap there.. If you prefer beaches i would recommend Bali. I don't really know about night clubs but if you want cheap beers you can go Thailand.

Ive been both of them..
and the must say Bali is better..and cheaper too!!
Bali's beach are very popular i guess..Kuta Beach is the international beach that all people around the world meet in there..and have good wave to go surfing too!!
and about the clubs, you must go to KamaSutra, etc..i forget the names of the clubs..but you'll enjoy it..

been to both...bali is a much smaller place and can be visited major areas in 2weeks. It's actually cheaper in bali then thailand...beer is 1-2usd and accomadation is about $25 (to 300usd in sanur). Kuta is probably where you want to stay for the night life, etc.

I've never been to Bali but it sounds fantastic.
Koh Samui (Thailand looks good as well)

hang out on the beach, hit the clubs, shop - Thailand will be a better bet, it has them all and more! Beautiful beaches, in-trend clubs and shopping paradise (branded stuff and good imitations of them :-)
