anybody can speak the way they choose - but the way they conduct that speech shows alot about their persona - most of the world speaks english - I find it very hard to even communicate on a basic level if one couldnt speak proper english in this country - i know i wouldnt hire someone if they were speaking in ebonics - not racist just logical - everything we do everyday comes down to the ability to communicate - i think they just want to be cool and separate themselves from mainstream - it still wont get them a job

I think with a lot of black people it's a group identity thing. You here lots of black people who can easily switch back and forth from ebonics to English. (By the way, ebonics has its own grammar and sentence structure, so people who speak it are not "too stupid" to learn English.)
I think with the "wannabe white suburban gangstas" it's just an attempt to sound cool. To me it always seems pretentious when white people do that.

We can talk in ebonics and we can talk in english..
Omg..Just because yall don't got a language to calll yall own, besides english, doesn't mean we sound dumb.
Sometimes people don't wanna say the whole word, Just like people don't type the whole word on the internet.
How are we trying to be cool, with something that we came up with?
No matter what were going to speak in ebonics, no matter how many stupid questions you ask.
WHY DO HISPANIC PEOPLE SPEAK IN SPANISH IN AMERICA?
Because they can, and if we wish to speak in a different language than we will, what's the difference?

They are not stupid, for sure. I think it takes time to learn to speak like that. It's hip. It's kind of funny, really. The problem is when they don't know the real way to write or speak. then it becomes a problem.

I believe we have the Americans to thank for that, since their the ones who turned English into "slang" so it just created generations of slang speaking PEOPLE-not just black people!

It's because rap music and such makes it seem acceptable and cool. I think that if as a society we tried to discourage this type of behavior, maybe kids would stop TRYING to act stupid on purpose.

No idea.. but it does sound ridiculous. They must do it on purpose because they are taught English and Language Arts in school.
Some peoples idea of tough and cool are lame.

They want to be rebellious and ignorant. You also have to question their family life and what parents allow of them. You can be poor and still make sure your children speak correctly.

honestly---they probably learned it from their family that spoke that way ---so they were raised that way and then it is reinforced by kids trying to fit in and be cool and whatever the cultural norms are for their particular environment.
