To maintain my weight i eat aroun 1600 calories a day. As long as i dont go over this amount is that okay no matter where it comes from. or should be looking more in depth at protein, carbs, and fat. I do this already but could it affect my weight more than i think like if i still eat 1600 cals but one day it comes more from fat would i be more likely to put on weight???

I think counting calories is the best way to lose weight, but it is important to include foods from all food groups.

Diet alone won't maintain your condition. You are growing, changing, evolving. Your hormone levels change. You need to incorporate some kind of exercise with your diet. Spread your meals out into six intervals while you keep watch of your calories. Eat no more than a cup of food at each interval. You don't need to stuff yourself. This makes your body's metabolism speed up because you keep feeding it often (every two hours or so) You have to eat healthy foods from all sources and not just a few choice selections. Stay away from white bread and only eat wheat. Try having oats in the mornings or for lunch. Eat lean proteins like fish. chicken, eggs (especially eggwhites-a superb protein source) to maintain weight and stay away from sweets altogether. Eat fruits that are sweet if you crave and don't forget your veggies especially beans, broccoli, carrots and all those goodies. Did you know that taking a multivitamin helps your body lose weight? Try it out it might be something that works for you. Most of all, keep a healthy mind and the body will follow. Good Luck!

Of course, changing your diet is good, but if you added on light exercising such as walking around the park a couple of laps or swimming at a local gym, then your results will add on past losing weight. Not only that, but doing some exercising with friends really helps pass the time, and makes it seem fun and enjoyable if you didnt exercise in the first place.

The idea of counting calories is good, but not only calories, but the fat (especially trans fat). Eating five large oatmeal cream pies will equal 1600 calories, but that does not entale healthy eating. What works more often is many meals with only a few calores. This tells the body that this is only fuel, and not to be stored as fat.

Those who seek in high protein foods often seek in gaining muscle and shedding pounds. If you aren't into gaining muscle but merely losing the weight, then dieting can help, but using both exercising and healthy eating maximizes the results, giving you a slimmer figure in a smaller amount of time.

What I would do is eat a healthy portion of protein at eat meal..., that way your brain will release a chemical that would stop you from eating... That's why Atkin's works..., not because of the low carb but the high protein... I would eat good low fat protein like chicken or fish..., stuff like Soya... After a while you won't have to count calories because you body is regulating itself...

Good luck...
