From Los Angeles, through California, there are two routes you can take. Either along the cost, or following the Sierra Nevadas. Along the coast, Monteray, San Francisco, and Sonoma/Napa County are worthwhile stops. After Napa County you will need to head over to Shasta for the best route into Oregon.

Following the Nevadas, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe are excellent. This route is less direct because there are no good routes through the mountains North/South.

The fastest way North through California is through the Central Valley on I5, but it is also the least appealing way to go.

I would avoid Eastern Oregon all together, but Crater Lake is nice. There is also the Shakespear Festival in Southern Oregon.

Champoeu (sp) State Park has a nice campground outside of Portland if you are camping along the way and is in the Willemette Valley (great pinot noir wine).

Have Fun!

Take Highway 101 one way and I-5 the other. I-5 is much faster, but 101 is much more scenic.

If you have time: Lassen Nat'l Volcanic Monument in Northern California; Crater Lake in Oregon (pretty far off the highway, but worth it); Mt. Hood just outside of Portland; Mt. St. Helens a little north of Portland, Mt. Rainier just south of Tacoma.

Take the route along the coast. Big Sur is awesome. The Redwood Forest and many
small quaint towns. Have fun, it's a very scenic
road trip.

in case you’re staring at doing a touch procuring, the girls evening marketplace in Kowloon (Monkok) is tremendous – you may want to purchase each thing from footwear to purses and garments for less costly consisting of brand call manufacturers like North Face, Columbia, Nike, and so on., and in case you’re into the stuff, fake dressmaker purses that seem plenty like the actual issues. The evening marketplace on Temple street is somewhat good too in case you’re searching for earrings, antiques and diverse different trinkets. You’ll discover each and each of the better end boutiques in HK consisting of Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Burberry, and so on. You’ll also discover carrying shops like Columbia, FILA, Lacoste, and so on. Don’t purchase electronics in Hong Kong as Hong Kong merchants frequently don’t do refunds. once you purchase it, you personal it. in case you’re staying on the Kowloon area, I recommend depending on the vacation motel Golden Mile. It’s no longer less costly, inspite of the undeniable fact that it’s also no longer as extreme priced as i.e., the Peninsula inn. It’s on the point of each thing consisting of the water taxis to the Hong Kong area, trains, similar eating places (in case you’re yearning McD’s it’s down the line and around the nook… about a block and a 1/2). recommend you visit Victoria’s height, the holiday up the tram is remarkable and so is the view from the suitable. As for food - my in uncomplicated words suggestion is to bypass for seafood and/or the dim sum, they're actually delish! only a recognize caution, a number of Hong Kong's eating places are literally not completely sanitary even as it consists of their bogs. convey numerous anti-bacterial wipes! and use the lavatory when you end your meal in case you opt to save your urge for food!
