Well, i try to be casual with Him too. But i defenitely talk with more respect than i would with anyone else.
I apologize when i do things wrong.
I'll say things to Him when i'm driving home or driving to some place.
When i get sick or whatever, i'll beg Him to make me better and promise that i'll be good for the rest of my life.
It's kind of wierd. I try to keep it casual because it's just the way i am. I like to feel that God is my friend rather than my judge. Do you know what i mean?
I like to just talk to him and tell him about things and ask for stuff.
And i'll make jokes and it's actually kind of stupid.
But i've also started writing in a journal directed to Him. It's just things i want to say to Him. Things i feel. Things i like about the world. How i wish things could be different. Repent for not enjoying my life as much as i should. I just think it's a great way for me to have a great relationship with Him.
I also try to think about Him all the time. Just to make sure i never forget to thank Him or ask him for forgiveness. But sometimes i don't even want anything. I just like talking because it makes me feel less alone.
I guess the main reason i have this type of relationship with God is because i want to be as close to Him as possible. And this is the type of closeness that comes easy to me.

Ditto.
just look up and say "hey, God, would do you say...?"
Some of my best conversations is with God.
(And the cat, but those take on totally different courses.)
You know, sometimes it's good just to talk things out. Whether you believe in God or not, just talk it out, hear your own words, put it together.
Sometimes that's all we need to find our answers.
Maybe we are figuring it out for ourselves.
Maybe God is pointing us in the right direction.
Maybe it's a little of both.
I still say prayers, but mostly when I can't think of what to say. Prayers, in my family, have always been guidelines, like a template.
My humble P.O.V.

Just like I would to a friend I knew I could trust, but at the same time treat him as a King in which he deserves. I'm basically open and honest with God and tell him all my thoughts and feelings ,but I also revere him knowing how great and awesome he really is.

When you know the Lord and walk with Him - your spirit calls out constantly to Him and you cannot, nor do you want to, think of anything else.
This includes a lot of prayer as well - to take the time to fellowship with the Lord is a must - just as the thirst for His Word that takes hold...
I do go on...

Deeply, passionately, honestly, and frequently
He is my best friend - so I talk to him like he is..
Dear Friend,
As you got up this morning, I watched you and hoped you would talk to me, even if it was just a few words, asking my opinion, or thanking me for something good that happened in your life yesterday. But I noticed you were too busy trying to find the right outfit to put on.
I waited again. When you ran around the house getting ready, I knew there would be a few minutes for you to stop and say hello. But you were too busy. At one point, you had to wait fifteen minutes without nothing to do except sit in a chair.
Then I saw you spring to your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me but you ran to the phone and called a friend to get the latest gossip.
I watched as you went out and I waited patiently all day long. With all your activities, I guess you were too busy to say anything to me. I noticed that before lunch you looked around. Maybe you felt embarrassed to talk to me, that is why you didn't bow your head. You glanced three or four tables over and you noticed some of your friends talking to me briefly before they ate. But you didn't.
That's okay. There is still more time left and I have hope that you will talk to me. Even yet, you went home and it seemed as if you had lots of things to do. After a few of them were done you turned on the TV.
I don't know if I like TV or not. Just about anything goes there & you spend a lot of time each day in front of it, not thinking about anything; just enjoying the show. I waited patiently again as you watched TV and ate your meal. But again you didn't talk to me. As you did your chores, I waited again. You did what you had to do.
At bedtime I guess you felt too tired. After you said goodnight to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep in no time. That's okay because you may not realize that I am always there for you. I've got patience. More than you will ever know. I even want to teach you how to be patient with others as well. Because I love you so much. A long time ago, I left a wonderful place called Heaven and came to Earth. I gave it up so that I could be ridiculed and made fun of. And I even died so you wouldn't have to take my place. I love you so much that I wait everyday for a nod, prayer, thought, or a thankful part of your heart. It is hard to have a one-sided conversation.
Well you are getting up again and once again I will wait with nothing but love for you; hoping that today you will give me some time.
Have a nice day!
Your friend,
Jesus

I address him in both ways. When our family prays at mealtime I would consider that a formal prayer (just cause we say the same thing every meal) But when I pray (just me and Him) its very casual. Lots of times I pray when I'm driving. He helps me clear my head of any stressful or negative things that happened that day. I pray at all different times of the day and for all different reasons. Sometimes just to say thanks for something (big or small) and sometimes to ask for forgiveness for something (again big or small) and sometimes it to ask for help (this seems like its always big)
also, I just call him God or sometimes Father.

I guess the same way as I do a parent....I pray out loud alot when I'm having a bad day. Like when I'm cooking and get ill I just start praying out loud which is more like talking to him then praying...I feel like he is a parent.

Just talk to him like you would anyone. He doesn't need "fancy" chat from you.
I talk to him in my car, before I go to sleep, and sometimes in the bathroom! A lot of what I talk to him about is actually to thank him for allowing things (even the bad stuff) to happen to me. I know that whatever happens, he has a reason for allowing it to happen. With the stuff that happens, I learn.
There is a wonderful preacher named Joyce Meyers who is on T.V. She also has a website (joycemeyers.org) that has been a great help! If you get on her mailing list, she will send you lots of great things to read. I also subscribe to her free monthly magazine.
Good luck to you!

That's really a good question. I guess it varies depending on how I'm feeling. Sometimes it's pretty formal, like "Heavenly Father" or "Loving Father"; sometimes it's just talking, like you said, to a friend.
