What are your sure fire tips for cheeting yourself up quickly? I had to attend a funeral this morning and I am now feeling quite sad. Not that there is anything wrong with grieving but I am at work at the moment and I have to go for an important job interview after work in a few hours time so I need a temporary cheer up technique to get me through the afternoon. What are your tips because all I can come up with is chocolate!.

Please note - I am at work and I can't leave work. I am going straight to my interview after work so I can't listen to music, watch vids etc.

OK, here is TRULY how I get out of funky mood -- I have a vast collection of melancholy instrumental music. I WALLOW in it until I fidget and get bored, then I put on some jazz until I get bored with that, and then I go to rock and roll and maybe some latin sounds (Gloria Estefan!) and I'm back among the living.

Back up technique: I have a brilliant pet that is really a wild dog. It's a seven-month-old Australian cattle dog puppy. I nestle it in my arms and tell it how I trust it and need it with me, and then I click through the "A" list in my mind of people that I love.

Way in the back of my mind is a "movie" of funny things that have happened to me and funny stories. The projector starts up and plays it for me about once every ten years, when and only when I REALLY need it.

Watch a Adam Sandler or Chris Farley movie. That always cheer me up. Or watch Fullmetal Alchemist and listening to the music of the series.

Repress emotions from the funeral and promise yourself that you will cry after the interview. Then read some jokes, take a deep breath and commit to getting the job. Gotta do what you gotta do. Whoever's funeral it was would understand.

Go to the toilet and give your face a good wash with warm and then cold water (you may have to put on make up for your job interview). Have a nice cup of tea (no coffee) and make plans for what you are doing for the weekend.

put on some of your favorite music, stuff that gives you adreniline. and dont rely to harshly on choclate to cheer u up, i hear it gives you zits and its not the best thing that can be ingested to peek body performence. choclate gives u alota energy but then drags you down a bit. so its kinda like not doing anything at all. so find something that gives you adrenaline is my sugestion

Chew some bubble gum...and blow a few bubbles while your at it . Chewing is supposed to cause a release of serotonin in the brain. Most anti-depressants work on the balance of serotonin in the brain.
